    The Way Things Are

Once upon a time a few months ago, things here weren't like they are now at all. Perhaps people who don't pay attention might not have noticed, but there has been a fairly dramatic shift in policy here at sythe. When I was a mod a while ago you could get away with anything and everything, within reason. Things were generally good, because even though it was easy to get away with things, mods had 1 thing most of the mods that are in now do not have: discretion. Most of the idiots were kept out and most of the respected people stuck around. Respect was something earned through personality and activity. Respect and popularity went hand and hand. Everyone knew who everyone else was and respect was honored. There were certain people you did not infract unless they really went wild. If you were a blatant idiot you would not be around for long. Staff was a fairly tight-knit group. For the most part, they backed each other and had generally a unified view of how sythe should be managed. What I just stated is not my opinion, but the honest truth.

I have absolutely no idea when this started to happen, but after I got demoded I fell off the grid for a while. I come back a few weeks ago to find some of the people I knew all to well off staff, and the rest soon to be demoded. I won't bother naming names, it's fairly obvious who everyone is. I came back due to further sythe drama that I had to assure was cleaned up. What happened between me coming back and right now is irrelevant. Right now I see shit being handled a lot different than it would have a few months ago. All of a sudden, there has to be a reason for everything. Idiocy, negative influences on the community, and general public disgust are no longer acceptable reasons to have someone dealt with here it seems. Everything must be backed by rules. Respect apparently has been washed away. Everyone is doing shit out of personal interest rather than what will benefit the community. I don't see any uniformity, just arguements between the people who agree with the opinion I'm presenting with you now and those who don't.

So I'm sure that most of you who actually bothered reading what's above are wondering "great fouis, there's change. so why the hell are you posting this?". I guess the idea is to tell things how they are at the moment. All these major changes on sythe do mean something, you know. Regardless, I shouldn't have to defend myself or the reasons for posting this here, as it's a fucking forum. I'll post and do what I want, within your oh-so brutally enforced rules. But my real point is as follows:

Sythe.Org, get your shit together. Figure out what you're doing and how you're going to be, because this instability will take you nowhere. Stop being so pissed off and uptight, and become more of a community. There should be actual reason to come here, besides e-drama.

    ~Fouis <3

After-thoughts: No single event prompted me to write this, regardless of what any of you think. I am not leaving, this isn't a goodbye thread. Although I won't be very actively posting on sythe, I'm always lurking, and I'm always on the IRC. I'm watching you.

    Ok Resident.

Haha, I love you Fouis, and you're absolutely right.

God, this is just like last year when everyone was getting upset. You and I both know Sythe will last a long time, no matter how much it changes. Its been goin down hill for a LONG while...

But it always manages to pick back up, somehow. It's time for a new crowd buddy =/.

I suppose it is time for a new crowd... but that doesn't mean that everyone needs to hate each other and disagree about everything all the time.

Unfortunately, that's what the new crowd has brought with them. I look at 2008 like the people from '06 looked at us '07ers. It's just another year of conflict added. People who once had respect come in here, and no one shows them respect, then new people join acting like they know everything (more than likely because they're multies)...

Everything is a cluster fuck :D!

I agree and even though I've only been somewhat known for about a year, I have lurked around Sythe since the days of Rune CMS.

Anyone who reads the whole thing either feels as you do or are those on the opposite side of the field heading Sythe.org in its new direction. That's to say that those not implicated by this will not read the majority of it and it will indeed get the recognition it deserves with those involved.:)

The average communicable abilities of such readers may be lessened by their age, however, and thus the resulting issue will be people thinking you are posting a goodbye thread. Welcome to newfagland.

you deserve a fucking medal for finally voicing the opinion that i and everyone else have quietly kept to ourselves

haha it's a shame you're not one of the powers that be, fouisgras; you're one of the only ones that see it clearly

if i'd a hat to off, for you, it would be.

i don't really like to get serious about these kinds of things, being the internet and all, but really, you mother fuckers need to get it together. it's a fuckin online community, for god's sake

how do you expect to function outside of this shit if you can't even keep it together in a place where there are no mistakes because you are and can be everything and anything, and none of it really matters because it's still just a bunch of pixels?

Indeed. But I'd imagine, just like Fouis said, it's a lack of caring for the community. Everyone's here for their own neck, and as such, nothing is maintained in a professional manner.

    E: Love you resident!

It's ironic that you're saying that nathan, being a mod on this site.

Also you clearly didn't read any of my thread at all. None of what I said is drama... just truth plain and simple.

BTW: Personal attacks over the internet... good job. Shows what you're worth.

When I first joined I don't remember this much going on. Now when I started getting more active I see all this shit happening.
Then again I haven't been here long enough to fully understand from what I have seen lately.. well lets just hope things start getting better soon.

I do agree with you, it was a lot better for the first year and some odd that I was actually active here. But although that may be true, you should also understand like bennytheberry said, everyone should have to follow the rules. I believe people have abused loop holes to get at other people and everything is currently in chaos. I just hope that the people I enjoy listening to stay around, such as yourself and a few others that are still here. I have already seen quite a few people I would consider quite a asset to the community leave in a quick amount of time. I surely wouldn't want more to leave.
