    How to DRAG FLICK a field hockey ball. FAST!

    Hello and welcome
    First off yes i played (Hurt myself) hockey so i no what i talk about.

    VIDEO - www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nJB2ThOleY
    [The first shot isn't a drag flick, its a hit]

    BASIC GRIP

    - Grip the stick, right hand on top left hand on bottom
    - about 5cm apart
    - half way down the grip

    1] When approaching the ball, have the ball about half way up the stick, and the stick on a 45 degree angle from your feet have the stick between your legs and your left leg in front of the ball and your body low to the ground (since ALL field hockey sticks are right handed it wont matter which hand.)

    NOTE:How her body is behind the ball making it possible to move weight forward

    2]Flick the stick along and ground, at the same time move your body weight forward onto your front (left) leg, the ball will roll down the stick till it reaches the head of the stick. [Now for the hard part]

    NOTE: How low to the ground. this is a MUST so the ball will role smooth, also note that also the stick and ball are in line with his feet for maximum speed

    3]As the ball reaches the head of the stick, you must whip or flick the stick hard and forward with your right hand and your left hand not so hard the opposite way. the power and energy from the stick and from your body moving forward is passed into the ball.

    INTERESTING FACTS!

    - Drag flicks commonly reach 120+ km/h or 33 m/s. {Ouch if that hits you}
    - From a stroke [ 5ish meters away ] that's a reaction speed of .1515152 of a second
    - The fastest recorded flick is 145km/h by an Australian

    This is a good starter guide. Many spelling and grammar errors though. 6/10
