Yea, this is a manipulated price. It will crash bad at some point and you can lose a lot of money.

 

Rogue, altough its nice of you to put up an item here for people in invest in, i really wouldnt suggest ranging potions. Atm, they are being manipulated. It looks like the best time to buy them, BUT, if they get get dumped, you wont be able to sell them even at minimum. Thats because the people who bought them out bought aaaages ago, and now the price of range potions is nearly twice as much as what it was when they bough them, so even if they get dumped at minimum, the manipulator will still be making a hefty profit.

edit - Faculty - Nah, acidys and his friends are buying out bgs and tassets. 2 days ago he told me he was buying them out for min, and now look, you cant get for max.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a ruse/lure/scam to get people to buy the many potions that are about to be unloaded by the manipulators. After this, the market will collapse.

You've been warned.

 

When people have bought too many items of one item... the prices will surely fall down...

Example is flax...

 

it is all pots... all "pking" pots.. cause people ewill buy pots for a superset... then sell next to bh for 10K each...

And as predicted, ranging potions have started to fall, going down the 5% maximum in the past 24 hours. When a price drops the full 5% allowed, it means that the item can't even be sold at minimum.

To test that, I put in an offer to buy a Ranging Potion(3) at minimum. It filled instantly. I then tried selling it at minimum. It's been sitting there, unsold, for 45 minutes.

If you haven't invested in these, don't start. If you already fell for this, my suggestion is to put them all in the Grand Exchange for minimum, change the price to minimum daily, and hope you can sell some as they continue to fall in price.

 

Yeah, this looks like a decent item, don't forget, when prices rise they must drop eventually =D

 

Update: Ranging potions have fallen the maximum 5% for three straight days and aren't selling today, either. It took me 12 hours to sell ONE ranging potion for maximum Thursday. Today, one has sat on the Grand Exchange unsold for 8 hours as of this writing.

I hope not many people here fell for this scam. Ranging potions will probably continue to fall for several more days.

This is how it works. A group of price manipulators buy up a ton of an item at medium to maximum. They then put word out that the item is hot. Runescape players being the blabby parrots that they are, soon everybody thinks the item is hot, and it goes for maximum for a while (usually 2-3 weeks). The price inches up to 2-3 times what it started at.

When it's time to cash in, the manipulating group dumps all of their stock of this item on the Grand Exchange and goes to the forums which allow such threads and posts something to the effect of:

So all the dreamers who are looking for easy riches, go buying this item. And there's plenty of the item, since the manipulating group just unloaded ten shiploads of it.

The problem comes when the dreamers try to sell the item. Nobody wants any, because the maipulating group has already taken their profit, and the item is way too expensive, due to the price being manipulated. So the item goes down for a long time, until it reaches its original market level. The mainipulating group makes big gold, and the dreamers all get burnt----again.
