[Food] Liberty Taco - Review

Looked like a Torchy's taco ripoff, so I went in to investigate.

Price Paid: Each taco is about $4.50



There's the spread...



Chips and Queso were honestly better than Torchy's, but I'm a sucker for cilantro so that might have really helped. Was a bit watery, but dang that was delicious High 5/5. Came with a LOT of queso.



First off, we have the Texas Brisket on the left. Smoked brisket, carmelized onions, cheese, jalapeno, cilantro, and garlic tomatillo. Tomatillo sauce had no spice and a mediocre flavor (tomatillo sauces are usually fantastic), but otherwise it was really above-average brisket. Low 5/5, would get this again.

Next, the taco on the right which is the Caribbean Chicken. Jerk chicken, mango, sour cream, cilantro. Literally the same as my favorite taco at Torchy's called the Brushfire, minus the habanero sauce (I added habanero sauce to half of the taco). Without the habanero sauce, this taco was quite average. The habanero spice really works well with the jerk flavor (which is supposed to be spicy on its own). 5/5 with the sauce, low 4/5 without it. Torchy's did it better.



Finally we have the Kogi. Sesame ribeye with napa greens, kimchi aioli, and toasted sesame. A bit of a basic taco, the aioli just tasted like mayo, napa greens were nothing special, but the sesame-marinated ribeye was so good. Essentially bulgogi in a tortilla, it was some really good meat with fantastic sesame flavor, but nothing else stood out. Maybe I should have added a hot sauce to it. 4/5, has a lot of potential.

That's it. Oh and, the kids taco kit is $5.25 and comes with enough meat to make 3 tacos, rice, and beans. Can get a nice meal for cheap here... or you can overpay like I did.

Mmmm, I wouldn't quite call it that... I'd just call these tacos lol they aren't trying to be Mexican by any means. Similar to how Taco Bell is just tacos and not Mexican in tastes, these certainly aren't since they had a few regions in these tacos.

Also, this is a Texas company copying another Texas company... so Tex-Mex if you really wanted to label it?

Or just GOOD TACOS.
