What is a good book?

Ok, so I'm not the best at searching for books, so can someone recommend me a good book for a Junior in High school? I need to get one for my English class. Also, tell me why that book is good.

the Alex Rider series by Anthony Horrowitz i dont know how to spell last name...but they are really good book and a lot in them....its about like a 14 year old boy with a bunch of adventure..epic series

I had to read the book for my English class when I was a junior. It's a pretty good book if you enjoy books that take 5 pages to describe the scenery.

If you're into adventure type outdoor stuff, all of Gary Paulsen's books are awesome... Though I read a lot of them in like 5th grade, all of the Brian books are sweet.
