I decided to try and make a few layouts and ask how you feel about em, personally i hate every single layout i ever try to make, because i can never think of any good ideas, but i decided to post them anyway to see what you think, the title is shellmodule as its the only domain i have got Does anyone have any ideas how i could improve?
A bit too much emphasis on the navigation, but I think with a little bit of work the top one could be really nice. Like maybe a good background with a transparent table, and some work on the nav, maybe better dimensions. They don't look horrible tho.
Yeah i think my problem might be that when i think layout, i think title, navigation and body. and my loss of ideas just comes by i only really know a few ways to arrange that
Now this isn't the best, it's exactly what the customer wanted, but it's my most recent work: http://ispikedthepunch.com/saxxon/cssidea/ I think background plays a lot into it. Your fonts and colors are sexy, but there's just some lacking in them. A little sprucing would make em much better.
Yeah, i'm starting to understand where i've gone wrong now, thanks alot mate, and nice work on this site, the rollover links are sexy
I always have the same problem when I make websites. I also suck at CSS, but I am getting better. When I put my latest project up on my clans website for voting (New webmaster contest) I will post a link. I get ideas by looking at random sites and how they are, and try to copy the things I like. I think your second one is the best, if you have good fonts and such.
They're made in flash ... Saxx gave me details of how to make it, etc, I just put it up . I'd hope to see one of those with some changes to it if you're still workin on em?
The navigation looks great! The actual layout is nice, it's organized properly. It's a huge width on my computer, I have to scroll to see the far x. Gray doesn't complement red . But I like!
Out of the three, I would say the last one looks the best. The other two are very generic, and seems like the sort of thing you could get anywhere. They're not very appealing, and are just plain blocky. The last of the three is better, but the text-placement is still a bit off, and that entire block of white background just doesn't work. The layout on the website you linked to could use some work as well; it's positioned a weird way on the screen, and you're using tables... Not to mention iframes! Don't use those! If you want simplicity/ease of updating, then use php includes! Don't ever resort to iframes!
