Guide: Dating Tips & How to Maintain a Healthy Relationship!

@Syfiends thread caught my attention and I thought I'd make a "how to get into dating and maintain a healthy relationship guide" I'm no councelor, but I've been in a healthy relationship for over 4 years now so thought I could help some of you with lesser experience!

About myself: Full time student from Norway

Starting off..

Things to look for. This is what you should be looking for prior to approaching her:

• If her parents has a healthy long term relationship thats a big free bonus right of the bat. This means she has been taught from a young age to respect the partner in her life, and to love and work her way through the tougher times aswell. She’s much less likely to cheat on you.
• She’s not too needy. If she knows how to maintain herself and is not dependent on you, that’s great. This speaks for itself, who wants a super needy girl?
• She doesn’t wear the most fancy clothes every day, not 10 layers of make up. If she does this chances are she has low self esteem. This is not always the case tho bare that in mind, but could indicate so (which I will get back to shortly)

The approach:
Guys like to think that girls are super complicated, but they are actually not. You should approach her the same way you would of wanted her to approach you.
You could send her a message, ask whats up and ask if she would like to do anything the upcoming weekend. Movie threatre/cinema, dinner, park, or even just a walk or a roadtrip?
Ask her when she is sober, not at a party. She is intoxicated and she is likely to forget about it.
BE CLASSY, don't suggest "netflix and chill"
Girls love attention, so don't be afraid to ask.
Don't overcommit, if she says yes you should not text her much, girls don't like clingy guys, keep it short and simple.
TRUST me, I know its hard and you just want to text her all day every day but that will burn you both out.
Instance 1, you get denied: Pat yourself on the shoulder, you had the balls to ask and she will respect you for it.
Instance 2, she would love to go out with you: Nice, depending on what you two agreed on chances are she is interested.

How to maintain her interest in you?
This is the hardest part of dating, I see so many of my own friends screwing up because they overcommit and they text too much. Girls don't want super clingy guys, I'm sure there is other guys texting her 24/7 aswell that are way to clingy. Girls ONLY want what they cannot have, so key to maintaining a girl's interest is actually being reserved, not overcommiting. Show her you've got a life outside of her, and that you can't be with her 24/7. But when you're togheter, show her you care for her. This will make her time with you super interesting. Even for me, who has been in a relationship for 4 years.

How to maintain a long and healthy relationship?
There is really no script to this, you gotta figure out yours + hers chemistry and how you two work togheter. However there are a couple of things you can do to help yourself out here.

• Like I mentioned earlier, don't stop seeing your friends, having two seperate lifes in a relationship is really important. She needs her own time without you, and so do you.
• If she gets mad at you, or jealous for some reason do not yell back at her. Trust me I know its hard, girls are jealous and that's just how it is. (Being jealous is healthy in moderate amounts)
• Show her you care for her and her family. If you're a douchebag and don't even care to spend time with her & her family she's likely to leave you, bonding with her entire enviroment is really important.
• Listen, don't talk too much. Self explanatory. Girls love talking & slandering. If you can remotely pretend to care, and listen to her and let her talk freely she will love you for it.
• Keep it interesting, never stop dating her EVEN IF YOU HAVE HER: Many couples stop dating once they move in with eachother or see eachother daily. Don't ever do this, keep doing what made her fall in love with you in the first place.

Girls love when you:

• Make them laugh, get to know her humour and abuse it!
• Make them feel unique, you gotta find out how yourself. Every girl is different!
• Tell her that you love her
• Show her that you appreciate her, actions speak louder than words

Red flags and No-Go Girl:
The "insecure" girl. This is a girl that might seem pretty ok at first, she will likely be very obsessed with you and it'll work out the first couple of months but here are some signs that will start to evolve once you get to know her better, and this is a NO GO. Insecure girls ALWAYS end in disaster (same goes for guys that are insecure) They're also more likely to cheat on you, and lower your own self esteem. Here as some signs that you are dating a "insecure" girl. Those are red flags.

• She gets jealous, ALL the time.
• She stalks you, she wants to know what you're up to at all times.
• She doesn't respect you being alone.
• She freaks out if theres another girl talking to you.
• She gets mad at you for no legitimate reason.
• She blames you for everything.
• She is controlling

If she does the following shes a keeper:

• She talk about you to her friends and her family (this is HUGE)
• She enjoys spending time with you and your family
• She invites you to meet her friends and family
• She includes you whether it be a movie with her friends or a party
• She respect your needs (time with the boys or whatever it might be)

Answer: Are you giving her too much attention? If you text her continuously she will burn out from you, stop giving her attention for a while, and she is very likely to reach out to you because she miss the attention that you gave her.

How do I know when a girl likes me?
Answer: Girls are different so theres no way to know for sure. But look at her body language, is she fixing/flipping her hair whenever you are around? Does she look at you? Whenever a girl exposes her neck or open vulnerable areas that means she is confident about you. Also blushing is a big sign.

Answer: Abusive relationships never end well, you are wasting your time. Block him/her.

Hi.
Personally I've never been into online dating, I've never really had to or felt tempted to. But a lot of friends of mine has found thier girlfriends & even wifes from online dating apps like Tinder. I guess you do yours, and I do mine. It's personal preference.
