I was watching the discovery channel earlier today and a show called Discovery Project Earth was on. They were discussing and reaserching ways to lower the global temperature. Point out positives, negitives, if you think the idea will even work, or alternate solutions.

Artificial Clouds. The idea behind this was to get thousands of ships in the oceans that would suck up salt water and shoot water particles high into the air. Hopefully, they would form more clouds which would reflect more sunlight back into space.

Mirror Lenses. Basicly, they would launch trillions of plastic mirrors into Earth's orbit. When sunlight hit the mirror, 1.81% of the light would be refracted away into space. Together, the mirrors would reflect 10% of the sunlight hitting Earth.

Carbon Dioxide Cleaners. This is pretty self explanitory. A machine would suck in huge amounts of air and pump it back out, cleaned of the carbon dioxide. The only problem is what we would do with all of the carbon after it was sucked out. This also would not need international support as they can be placed in home countries.

Forest Planting. Air bombing technology would be used to plant trees. They would have a biodegradable capsule with mangrove seeds in it which would be dropped, by plane, on coastlines and islands that were deforested. Mangroves would be used because they are proven to be the most efficiant at taking carbon dioxide out of the air.

These are some of the solutions that they brought up. Discuss.
