"I don't know how civilization got here. God must have done it. There is NO OTHER POSSIBLE WAY."

Isn't that the Argument from Ignorance, or God of the Gaps logic?

In my opinion, the only reason we believe in God is that if we don't, we will be punished by him, and will suffer in Hell. Honestly I think that if you don't believe in God, you won't have to face Heaven or Hell. :)

What you just said is "I don't know therefore God did it."

Come back when you have a real argument worth debating.

The Existence of God

No-one has any empirical proof that god does not exist, but however there is signs that god does exists. Signs are better then nothing in my opinion.

The Existence of God

Are you saying the person who first created a car, or discovered a medicine, was God? Because, nothing just appears...SOMEONE created electronics...SOMEONE decided building a road was easier then walking on the ground..Roads weren't always here, along with electronics, cars, and buildings. I excluded medicine because...it was here :)

Is it so hard to believe a human being is capable of creating and discovering these "complex things" without God's help?

elaborate Pl0x?

The Existence of God

There is a God. And only one. Going back millions of years ago. The first people on earth could not just be created from protons and bullshit like that. There has to be an "explanation" and understanding towards this subject. We can only use the evidence that we have at the moment. Which is most people believe in God. And you cannot jsut bed DEAD. There is an EXTREME explanation towards this, and that is there is a God. And also Islam overcomes Christianity by a long shot as God cannot have a son.

*sigh*
So because you don't understand how something happened, you insert magic man as the answer? You are weak.

Why?

Islam is just as stupid as Christianity. In fact, if I had to pick one to keep, id take Christianity.

You cannot prove a universal negative! It is not possible to come up with evidence that shows that God does not exist!

What are these signs that God exists? The Bible? Ubiquity of religion? I'd be interested to hear.

The Existence of God

Well, The "God" and the "Jesus" that Christians worship today are actually amalgams formed out of ancient pagan gods. The idea of a "virgin birth", "burial in a rock tomb", "resurrection after 3 days" and "eating of body and drinking of blood" had nothing to do with Jesus. All of the rituals in Christianity are completely man-made. Christianity is a snow ball that rolled over a dozen pagan religions. As the snowball grew, it freely attached pagan rituals in order to be more palatable to converts. You can find accounts like these in popular literature:
•
[*]"The vestiges of pagan religion in Christian symbology are undeniable. Egyptian sun disks became the halos of Catholic saints. Pictograms of Isis nursing her miraculously conceived son Horus became the blueprint for our modern images of the Virgin Mary nursing Baby Jesus. And virtually all the elements of the Catholic ritual - the miter, the altar, the doxology, and communion, the act of "God-eating" - were taken directly from earlier pagan mystery religions."
[*]"Nothing in Christianity is original. The pre-Christian God Mithras - called the Son of God and the Light of the World - was born on December 25, died, was buried in a rock tomb, and then resurrected in three days. By the way, December 25 is also the birthday or Osiris, Adonis, and Dionysus. The newborn Krishna was presented with gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Even Christianity's weekly holy day was stolen from the pagans."

I'd pick Islam, but we're not having a 'which' Religion fight here. I still prefer to be Atheist.

nah. And even if he tried to show himself to prove it no one would believe him and he would end up in a mental asylum

I just don't see how you guys can go throughout the day and see the beauty of the world and not feel that God is responsible... Every day in theology I learn more and more and my beliefs just strengthen. I don't know why you guys deem faith as irrevelant in this argument. Faith is what religion is about, and if you deem it irrelevant, you deem the entire debate irrelevant.

I honestly don't know how you can see beauty and assume that God is responsible. With or without a God, beauty exists, and it is pleasant to witness.

Faith is not a rational way of knowing truths, though. It doesn't have a place in debate.
