How to boost Your Self Esteem

Many people suffer from low self esteem and lack of confidence and finds that it prevents them from achieving their full poteitial in life.

1. What is low self esteem-
Self Esteem is the opinion you have of yourself this is not constant your self esteem can go up and down depending on the things that are happenining in your life.A major influence on self esteem is the type of childhood you had, the relationships you've had with your parents and other's. and the amount of praise and encoragement you have recieved from them will all have a big effect. any time of abusive relationships will invariably have an impact on a persons self esteem.

2. Dont be so hard on yourself-
try not to focus on the things that have happened, or have done wrong in the past. Holding onto regret and guilt over long periods doesnt achive anything, try and let go of these feelings rather than cristisiing yourself and being negetive about yourself.

3. Be positive -
Try and focus as much as possible on your achivements and talents, even if you dont feel there particullaly significant. If your good at something keep doing it, and try to forget about what you perceive are your weaknesses. Also try to strech yourself by giving yourself new challenges and goals. So that you can feel the sence of achivement when you reach them.

​

It can also be helpfull to have a positive role model, someone who's qualities you admire. surround yourself with positive people and try to enjoy a social life with people who make you feel good about yourself.

​

4. Reward yourself-
A good way to feel better about yourself is to set achievable goals and then reward yourself when you reach them. Treat yourself to things you really enjoy and make you feel good e.g. A nice meal with your GF/BF or
go to a concert...
Acknoledge that you deserve to be good to yourself.

5. Your health -
Your body and mind are very closely linked, so one will effect the other. So if your sick or rundown your less likely to feel good about yourself. Eat a healthy balanced diet, but dont beat yourself up if you dont always stick to it. Also try to excercise regularly and take up activities that help you relax e.g. yoga, meditation, owning noobs on cod4 on xbox live.

Remeber high self esteem doesnt happen automatically, but by staying positive and nurturing yourself. You can end up feeling great about who you are.
