    Effectively cool a laptop CPU?

After about an hour my laptop reaches around 52 degrees celcius

What can I do to reduce the heat?

Try buying one of the coolers that you put under your laptop.

Buy a can of compressed air (those used to blow off dust and stuff)
Then use it to clean out the vents.

The vents are fine to my knowledge. They just get blocked when I put the laptop on a flat surface (my desk) because the vent is on the bottom of the computer.

The fans that go underneath the laptop does not always work...
    Code:
    lol@lolx:~$ acpi -cat
Battery 1: charged, 100%, rate information unavailable.
         Thermal 1: ok, 61.0 degrees C
      AC Adapter 1: on-line

    That's while I'm using a fan...

"Raise" the rubber pieces on the laptop, by putting like, four pieces to make a stand, so there is nothing blocking the laptop's vents. Also, disable things that use power that you don't need. (Remove CD drive if you don't use it, disable unused USB ports; not significant change, may help though)

I actually may know a good way.

Buy some compressed air, hold it upside down so when you spray it, it sprays out the liquid. Now what you want to do is spray it all over in your vents, the liquid does not harm components(although I may be wrong)

My processor cores are running at 53 and 54 degrees right now. I don't think you have anything to worry about, unless it's the casing that's around 52 degrees o_O

Raising it up off the table brings them down to 46 degrees. If you really need to cool it, get a stand for your laptop.

I'm on my girlfriends mac and I've only got Mozilla open and it's running at 50 degrees. I bought her some detachable velcro stick-on half-a-ball bits of plastic for the bottom of the laptop, to lift it up.

You know how a keyboard has the two stands at the end of it to lift it up? You could try looking for something similar to that for your laptop.

I think something happened to my fan. Recently it started and continuously spins slow. I even took a can of compressed air and shot out a little dust, but to no avail. Now my CPU and HD heat up faster than ever. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

Blow the dust out of the vents with an air can, Try to keep the vent from being covered, and get a laptop cooler.
