Will RS3 meet RSC fate?

For so many years I fought against the RS3 haters. Unfortunately, I can no longer. There is so much wrong with it, I have fully come over to OSRS.

Not only does the game offer nostalgia with new, exciting content, it has the simplicity and dignity a game and company (department*) should have.

With all that said, bots aside, it's apparent to us all how much better the 07 servers and community are doing.

How much more of a hit can RS3 take before it's truly abandoned?

 

i believe that it would be because of a situation with the splitting of bitcoin. that there will always be fragmentation of the game. dependent on the rule set. if that makes sense

 

Rs3 is, & has been dying a slow death since 2009. Eventually they will stop releasing content & general updates due to a lack of revenue from rs3 itself & the servers will be taken offline or minimized to one small dedicated server.
Jagex does not listen to a word there playerbase says, Jagex rarely learns from there mistakes, Jagex has awful upper management & development skills, they rush into updates/content and pay the price for it later on. From what I have heard jagex without a doubt has the worst organizational & directional skills known to any online gaming platform. Every Jagex mod/staff member who has ever left/been fired/quit the company has said the same thing... "listen to your playerbase" and they refuse to do it.

 

They won't. Rs3 is their cash cow

 

It probably won't meet the same fate, but I hope it does so that we can get Pre-EoC servers.

 

why not keep the servers and have it work the 70 percent rule per unique themed server?

Nope. Osrs doesn't have dungeoneering which is the best skill in rs history. No knock-off chaotic rapier. Summer's end to fight corp. Ancient curses, stealing creation, while guthix sleeps quest series etc.

 

SC and Fist of Guthix were bloody brilliant.

I can agree with pretty much everything you said - I'd add Summoning as a desired thing because it was just so useful for any facet of the game.

 

Yeah, I forgot about summoning. It was definitely a nice addition.

It needs to die so they can focus on osrs
They do need to slow down on osrs updates because in 3 years time we will have TOO MUCH content, just like what happened with the original Runescape

I must say, I loved playing Runescape in 2006, but fuck, 2010 Runescape was bloody great

 

I personally prefer exactly what osrs offers now as pre-eoc. But I respect ya'll opinions for sure.

 

I dont think rs3 will die anytime soon even though the player base is small and shrinking every month. Their are still some hardcore players that spend a lot of money on rs3 so jagex makes a lot of money off of MTX and until they stops it's not going anywhere.

 

RS3 is a dying out community, with the majority of players being on OSRS. The RS3 website includes OSRS players in the 'online' now,
so if you look at it OSRS usually has 4X the amount of players online. With that being said, RS3 is full of micro-transactions as well
through solloman's store, the treasure hunter thing, etc. I don't think they will ever fully shut down RS3, there are way more many
dedicated players to the game & always will be. The only thing I would ever see Jagex doing in terms of 'shutting down' would be to
drastically reduce the number of servers, to save money. That's about all.

 

I feel they need to reduce the amount of servers in general, so the player base isn't spread so thin. Also get rid of prif because that separated the higher tiered players from the lower end players. Just sad how many bad decisions jagex made with that game lol.
