    :noworry:
I agree with this. I think that you should buy something if you want to support the creator, but it's not a big deal.

Why do you all accept something if shredder sides one way or another speak for your selfs the majority of you are clearly just agreeing without adding your own two sense in. It is quite ignorant it is the same between right and wrong. it is stealing, if you couldn't have the intellect to create the movie or you didn't have the musical talent to create the musical art so why should you be able to have it without a price? Let me put this in perspective for you.

Your sythe password, it isn't real in a sense that there is not a animate or inanimate object of your password. Does this mean that it is ok for others to steal it via key logger\scamming\hacking etc. and tell everyone it? clearly you will say no. If you say otherwise you are obviously just doing this out of your own arrogance and need to learn when to give up.

lets say someones credit, it's just a number it's not real people steal that all the time, does that make it right? no. so this is no different.

To the majority of you, you need to grow up and learn to think for yourselves.

Well my point is that those who profit frim pirating should go and die. Pirating is truly beneficial to educators, but not too greedy-assholes.

    Pirating? Wrong or Right?

This is kindof a silly argument, a rather bad analogy, but I'll bite..

I do not own my sythe password. It is a string of characters that anyone could think up and I make no claims to it. I merely use it. I am not trying to sell it, nor is it a public thing. In order to access it at all you would have to do something illegal, such as phishing, keylogging, cracking, or fraud.

The same goes for credit card information. This is a whole different ball game. This information is not copyright, it just is not available to the public for any price. Distributing this information brings direct harm to individuals, and is illegal as such.

Music, on the other hand, is publicly available for everyone to know and hear. If I buy a CD, I do not therefore OWN its contents, so I am really only buying a plastic disc and some artwork. Why shouldn't I be able to distrubute this plastic disc as I please? Do I not OWN the plastic disc? Am I not able to take what is on the disc that I purchased and do with it what I please? Do I not then have the right to do with what I want the digital files which I created?

I can hear a song once, and play it back in my head accurately. Is this piracy? Am I infringing on copyright by writing down the lyrics? Am I infringing on their copyright by humming the melody? The answer to all this is no, and these are no different at the fundamental level from downloading the song.

Sorry with is a tad long.

First off how exactly is this a silly analogy it's what everyone tries to keep these things secret.

I don't think you are understanding on what I implemented my side of the story on. By this I mean it's something you may rely on for income, joy etc. a credit card number you might have a hospital bill you're medical coverage won't pay for and you don't have the money yourself you will need a credit card or a loan and you certainly can't do that if someone has gotten your credit card number or identification things and messed with your credit. and I am sure if this did happen to you, you would be on my side of this story.

The reason I didn't put something about copyright material is because you would use the same bogus things as you and shredder have already done. but for kicks I will

Lets see.. you for instance Jansen you are part of a company that works with visuals\art etc. online correct? what if you made a web page or something along those lines, got it copyright, and you were going to sell it as a layout, and someone stole it. You would obviously be upset because no one would come buy yours knowing the same thing is on the net somewhere free. Then you won't be able to afford hardly anything that month because your income will be severely lacking.
(not saying this is what you do or not I believe it is I may be wrong just using it as another analogy)

You have the right to put it where ever you want which is why you can put it on your computer upload it to a ipod,phone,mp3 player etc. that is not what we are debating here it's the people who DO NOT pay for it they just take it from the internet you can do anything you want with it though. I am sure if you individually gave every single person a copy of it, there would be a change in all of this but it isn't with places like limewire etc.

as for the whole digital files you created thing I don't really understand, you didn't create them, a band or a company did you just bought those specific digital files, which can also lead to the stop although contradicting what I said, you bought those 8-20 files no more no less. therefore copying them would be against it because you are only entitled to those 8-20 files, but to my knowledge they have no rules\laws etc. about that.

How can you possibly compare copying a song to writing lyrics, or humming the melody to it. that is completely different. It is against the law to take a song and make your own version of it without either the band giving permission or (there is a specific time period I believe) and then you have to change the song a bit, or that you are not wanting to make a profit from this. So if you can get a good band to cover the songs you want they can give out there music till there arms fall off and it's fine as long as they aren't making any profit from it.

I'll have to agree with you - too many people side with me just because of who I am. :(

However, the stealing of the password is not what is immoral. What is immoral is the fraudulent behavior that usually results.

First of all, I release all of my personal designs under the creative commons license. That means you CAN take them and use them for any non-commercial reason you want.

Second, we would not be losing money at my company, since the design is already commissioned and paid for. The client then has the right to do whatever they want with that design.

No one in their they're right mind could ever say pirating is good unless they knew what the general definition was. (Which is the case most of the time.)

    The definition of pirating:
Overall just stealing and using someones software illegally (Most of the time).

Overall their is no way to say it is good, but you could also argue that you need it and you do not want to pay for it.

Most people usually don't really care even though it is wrong, I for one truly do not thing it is good, but if I need a new program and I can't buy, I will download it if I must.

    Pirating? Wrong or Right?

    Actually, the definition is:
    "

    pi·ra·cy Audio Help (pī'rə-sē)
    n. pl. pi·ra·cies

    1. Robbery committed at sea.
    2. A similar act of robbery, as the hijacking of an airplane.
    "

    But thanks for your attempts.

Here are my thoughts, its not wrong if you have no intention of actually buying it, and its not wrong when you simply cant afford it lol, they charge way to much for software. the vista im running on my computer is worth some $700, which is half the value of my computer! To charge that much for something that people need is rediculas.

If you where to seriously go out and buy every program/software you have/want, you would be talking tens of thousands of dollars. I have like 50gig of music, you know how much this would cost me, there is no way i would buy music, i would simply go without. So by me finding a free way to get it isnt wrong, since i never was going to buy it anyway.

Tho i think people who can afford programs like games, or an album you really want, to just go out and buy it, i mean if no one bought anything, then programmers would stop making games, stop making music.

Also, its wrong to sell pirated software, you got it for free, so give it away for free, dont be a fag lol.

Ok I can understand that but what if your job was simply to make designs and then sell them and in which someone decided to steal them mass produce them etc. you in all logical terms would not think it is right because then you would be losing money.

By buying songs, your supporting the artist, pirating is going to force artist to quit if used too much.

The fact that he would be unhappy with the situation does not make it morally wrong. A thief is not happy when his ventures are discovered.

    Pirating? Wrong or Right?

How exactly is pirating a movie or song etc. beneficial? talents such as these are simply opinionated so there is no good you can do showing people these as not all would agree the song\film was good or bad.

This is true, but how is right to just take something someone or some people made and spent the time to put together to sell as a source of there income. I can understand this is rather easy to argue against as there are many loopholes in most laws. But for the most part anything you debate against the pro you can just re-arrange the words and make a con. So basically this is a never ending battle until either a law is lifted or updated. I honestly for the life of me can't possibly think of a ideal way to determine this one way or another. But although most people do agree with it and or do it (including myself) I believe it is wrong.

Pirating is completely wrong. If the product is sold for a price in stores or a retailer, and you pirate it, you are stealing. And last time I checked, stealing is "wrong".

So that means I do a shit load of stealing. Everything from Windows 64 bit Vista to photoshop is pirated on my pc.

Fuck buying it i'd rather pirate it, or steal it.

In the case of songs, I don't think they should be pirated because then the artists' profits will go down, not that many people will be so hungry to make it and there won't be that many good songs. Plus you have youtube now, which plays free music, and if you use the youtube to mp3 converter... you're set... don't have to dl shit or worry about getting a virus.

I think the companies need to find a better way to protect their music from pirating. It is much easier if you fix this problem from the source than to monitor every computer for downloading music ilegally.

    Sharing is caring :p

I think if you pay the ridiculous amount of money on software, then you should have the right to give it to other people. lol not really but yeah without piracy no one would even own a computer lol.
