    Good book for C++

    Alright, well I am pretty much new to C++ and have only just explored the basics(Hello World, Calculator). I was looking to pick up a book to read more into C++ but I didn't know which one would be best. I don't want it to be so basic that it will be boring but then I also don't want it to be so advanced I can't grasp it. Thank you all in advance.

    P.S. I would also like if anyone knows any good websites or tutorial videos. That would be greatly appreciated.:)

    Not specifically, I'm more interested in learning like all around the language so that I have a good background and then I'll be ready for some more advanced programming. I will check out your link though.

    Sams Teach Yourself C++ in 21 Days. Learn pretty much everything you need to start being a proficient programmer. You arent gonna be an engineer in 21 days but it is a very quick way to get to know the language.

    I'm reading the same book which I got from the library. It's pretty good, but it's 800 pages long lol. I'm at 150.

    Do you really think 800 pages is a huge amount? About half a year ago I decided to read a few books, did about 400-500 pages a day (mind, it was holidays).

    I really recommend Herbert Schildt's book, however sometimes it's best just to experiment around using online tutorials, and getting a general feel for things first.

    Well I checked out that website Swan and it was awesome. Cleared up a lot of my confusion. I'm also looking at some online video tutorials.

    There is a sticky for C and C++ ebooks in this section you may want to look at. Also, perhaps it would be worth your while to ask about any problems on DevShed or CodingForums (google them), as they are dedicated to programming, and ought to know quite a bit more than a hobbyist such as myself ;)

    Good book for C++

    I personally found the following book to be very useful for starting out with C++. For instance,it explains exactly what a class is - a data type, rather than explaining that it is some abstract thing that you could never possibly understand. It also teaches the language in a proper order; it delays any talk about OO issues until the basics of the language have been taught.The first half of the book teaches C++,which is all you need for a good beginning.You have refered also Complete Reference of C++ book.It is also best.
