    Tissue transplants - Done
    Kidney transplants - Done
Brain transplants - I don't remember any being done, but someday, hopefully.
    Bone transplants - Done

His only problem is his brain. We could use him around for a couple of hundreds of years.

Brain transplants might happen soon.... with the technology we have now....

And why Bill Gates? What if he gets a brain of an idiot? >_<

Do you know how impossible doing a brain transplant is? It's been a hypothetical talk for the last 50 years. And Bill Gates wont need a new brain soon, he just needs to keep his hear in good shape, etc. but I was just saying him since he has $70B. Maybe the Rockefeller's, (hope not).

As that one man said, you would go insane. There is an end to everything, unfortunate or not.

It's more probable to clone to him than to replace every aspect of his body, external and internal. The nerve-system, brain cells and pulses wouldn't be fully functional after a transplant, meaning he would die shortly after.

I do believe murdering would become legal in many cases if this advancement would take place. Although I doubt it will happen within 150 years.

You know, I thought about that, but I doubt he would be willing to be the first test subject, unless he just pays someone to test it. They still have a small piece of Einstein (I have no idea what part, but a small sample of his DNA) in case cloning was ever possible for humans.

Living forever is a horrible idea. Resources would be depleted 100s of thousands of times faster, over-crowding etc

If you were to think about this....immortality is a very dangerous idea. Basically the global population would be increasing more and more if immortality was available to the public. Imagine the current situation in China, but its everywhere. Immortality would doubtlessly revolutionize the earth much like fire did. Its a shame that i would never live to see such a society. Whether it is a booming utopia or a pitiful, chaotic sub-world.

Are you forgetting one thing? if you replace everything in your body, especially your brain, then there isnt actually anything left of YOU. You cannot replace your brain, because your brain is what makes you, you. If you replaced your brain with someone elses, you would be giving them your body.

Nothing can live forever, the second your born you are dieng.

The concept of forever would drive you insane, firstly, your mental health cannot be sustained for an eternity, you would seriously go insane. When your younge everything is new to you, but after a few thousand years, everything would be so old and you would be so sick of life you would do anything to just end it.

Secondly, you would forever witness all your loved ones die, and die and die and die, you would see your great great great etc grandkids grow up and die, how depressing, you could never feel find a partner to spend your life with, because she will just end up getting old and passing on, leaving you behind in an empty world.

Death is a nessecity of life, just like how you need to reformat your computer every so often, it needs to start over.

Actually... Something to consider is that we replace all of the cells within our body once every 7 years, the atoms that we are composed of are constantly changing, our physical matter seems to have very little to due with our consciousness, and this is also supported by out of body experiences among other things.

All of the issues you mentioned could easily be resolved with a healthier viewpoint on life - just ask any zen master. There are well documented ways to train yourself to appreciate every moment fully, and to embrace life in a way so that nothing ever gets old and it turns into one continuous and joyous learning experience.

While it's true that Death is a necessity to life due to the dualistic nature of the universe, if one did find a way to live an exceptionally long time I believe they would eventually accumulate enough wisdom to realize that death is not something to actually express much fear or sorrow over. Loved ones come and go, thus painful good byes are just part of life.

Either way I'm definitely still opposed to physical immortality, especially though technological means. You gotta realize that after a certain point, we will actually become the machines we create.

True, tho when we are talking about the brain it gets complicated. If you took someones entire brain, would you not inherit all there personal traits, everything that makes them who they are? would you be getting a new brain or would they be getting a new body?

say if me and you swaped brains, whoes eyes would you be looking out? yours or mine? since your body is nothing but a shell and your brain is everything that makes you who you are, would you not take over the others body?

I agree, tho that would only be possible if would could stop our brains from ageing. as our cells reproduce, the quality becomes less and less, like a video being taped 100 times. and you would end up with alzheimer's, dementia, and all sorts of problems. We would have to replace our brain, which is basically the only thing that is essentially you

    That's insane.

Your brain lives a lot longer than all your other body parts, and if they figure out a way to make brain cells re-grow, then there wont be a need to have brain transplants, unless there's a tumor in there.

Even if your brain cells regrow, they still age. thats why we do age, because all the cells in our body keep reproducing, copying themselves over and over, the quality of these cells get less and less. same as taping a tape 100 times, the copy gets worse and worse.

The only way to hugely extend our life span would be to iliminate the decreaes in quality or our cells, which would seam impossible.
