Graffiti, art or not?

Graffiti is art just in an illegal way. If they were to do it to there own property then it would be fine but others property makes it a crime.

 

Ofcourse it is art, it takes time, and takes alot of skill, i always see graffiti, and i really enjoy what people can do.

GRAFFITI IS ART.

 

It depends how you define art.

I consider my own definition of art at a rather high standard, and graffiti is at the bottom, hence I don't consider it art. If you want to use a literal definition, then be like that.

It looks abominable. I just don't know how you think it looks good.

 

It depends where it is and what it's meant to represent. If it's ridiculous slander then it's not art.

 

there once was an art Critic called DANTE

he proposed this theory

"anything can be art, but it doesnt necessarily mean it is good"

so any way of expressing yurself IS ART whether some people liek it or they dont

 

graffiti is an art if done well, artisticly and in well manner. when graffiti is representing useless junk like gangs etc, it is not art. most gangs are full of shit, if they were serious would they be spray painting buildings and concrete? doubt it, real gangs and succesfull gangs dont do it, its the meaningless full of shit ones that do, so it is not art. graffiti can be quite admirable when done well tho

 

Depends what the graffiti represents, if it is just 'tagging' then it's not an art but actual pieces are works of art; whether or not it is legal.

 

I find the art of Graffiti amazing, unless they vandalize with it for gangs and such. But other than that, I truly like it.

 

I think it's art, I've never tried it and I imagine it's pretty hard. I like seeing it to. Unique stuff.

 

i see it as art, not everyone can do stuff like most graffiti artist do.

 

well graffiti is good and bad..


It's good because:

- It shows that people who draw on walls have talent.
- It lets people show their feelings or at least shout out some problems that they think should be fixed
- Let's people go "ga ga" over the amazing drawings


It's bad because:

- It destroys property
- It makes it very hard to clean up
- You basically see it everywhere
- It costs the government a lot of money to clean it up

 

So long as it isn't gang bullcrap, I think it is cool

There is some really good political graffiti out there too, like banksy.

its not art when it just has a name or something in cool letters

 

yeh, banksy is amazing. his work is in melboure my home city That isnt technically graffiti is is street art, not a majour difference.

 

Of course, art is anything that is the product of human creativity.

 

Graffiti is art yeh of course it is people only say its not because they do it different to normal art

 

its art when people put it on places that people dont always see but if you put it on schools ect. ect. then i think its vandalism

graffiti that sends a message is art
but gangs and groups of thugs that 'tag' walls for territory are not sending a message , its intimidating.
