It's obviously wrong people wouldn't make you pay for it if it wasn't there source of income and it is wrong to steal correct? well then it's wrong to steal there source of income. If they wanted it to be free it would be.

Ofcourse it's called stealing if it was on store rack and you took it without paying, but it's leaked all over the internet why not take it?

You do have a way with words sir.

I was thinking about it some time ago also, and I came to the same conclusion (that they want the companies to buy it.) The customer can't afford it, but the companies can.

You is win this Jansen. =).

It's wrong, as they people who make the thing, I believe, should own it.

But who cares, I'm not paying £6 to see a movie.

Why should they own all copies made of their movie?

Exactly, where's the profit now?leastwise when someone buys it and leaks it there would be profit also, and it's not like selling movies on DVDs is a job on the line thing, lots of people buy stuff like that, and i personally, download illegal movies, but if i like a movie i buy the original copy,so personally i consider the download as a demo,or a free trial before i purchase it,plus, there's a thing called Cinema these days, lots of people go to cinema, and i'm sure you all know how much can a movie gain from the Cinema alone depending on the quality of the movie.

Well my opinion is that not everyone can afford things. an i personally think that piracy is used more between the age 13-16 because that age is where people dont work (generally).

The value of $500? That's not a value, it's a reflection of the creator(s) greed to think they can own a piece of technology.

    Not always...

The people who created photoshop work hard to do so. They certainly should make a profit, but perhaps it is unfair of them to ask mere civilians like myself to fork over $500?

Perhaps they should offer it for very cheap or free to individuals, and then charge businesses who use it to make a profit (IE design firms) a ton.

Reasonable? I thinks so. Perhaps they would have to implement policies that would prevent profitable organizations from mooching off of the free version (As some actually do now... I know for a while my work used the pirated version of photoshop because we didn't have the money for it at the time).

But I think this seems more reasonable. By offering their software for free to users to learn with, they'd essentially be expanding their target market of people who will eventually use it for business.

That's just my way of thinking though.

That happens with a lot of things, extreme examples are drugs. Give someone a free line of coke, chances are they will like it and come back for more. But I suppose that's the trial period.

Say they sell it to one person. Why can't that one person mass-produce copies, and distribute them for free?

They should. Chances are you wont share as many copies as they sell. So they still make a killing.

If I'm an eccentric billionaire who buys the first copy, and mass-airdrops them into every major city in the U.S., why would consumers still be buying them?

    for the lulz

On just as valid of a point, say I'm the eccentric billionaire owner of adobe that decides not to produce software anymore and/or hire assassins to kill all the other eccentric billionaires...

I don't really know where I am going with this

I believe its wrong and right i can't decide. Bands make enough money off concerts, merchandise etc and people still buy their albums if they like them enough. But i think it is still wrong that we are technically 'stealing' from them.
