The drug legalization thread to end all others

ahh dang beat me its impossible to debate with you i swear..

 

Drugs are bad, They send you mad. end of story.

 

I'm not sure if you know enough about drugs to intelligently argue this topic.

 

People can get addicted to alcohol. Just like with the suicide thread you should be able to decide what to do with your own life but not others'. I'm sure politicians realize that it would just be like going to work and making decisions drunk. People probably wouldn't be going around because the drugs would be for adults, and illegal in public places. It might cause a fuss.

But it was the mans choice to take the drug, therefore it is not the drugs fault, it is the man who took it.

 

I remember long ago the legalization of Marijuana took place for possession of under 100 grams. Well the use of heroin shot up too, Marijuana is the gateway drug, it jsut simply can not be legalized.

 

errmmmm its a mans choice to start using drugs but then after that they get soo addictive that they will do anything for just a little drug and then you see people start getting shot and stabbed just for drugs

Whether or not its your problem, it is the governments problem. A 6 year-old child doesn't have the ability to make mature decisions and thus the mother is a harm to the child. Just because the mom decided to take crack. As far as I'm concerned, once you make the choice to do drugs, you've made the choice to not be able to make choices anymore. Drugs are addicting (as well as many other things), and as an advancing society, it would not be in our best interest to permit such addictions. They are a detrememnt.

I'm not saying that the government should ban anything addicting, because that is ludicrous. However, things such as drugs that have been PROVEN to have mind altering effects (in a NEGATIVE way), should not be legalized.

 

Governments don't exist - they are composed only of individuals. It is the family's own business what they do - not the government's.

 

So what about alcohol, that has mind altering effects - in a negative way. Should that become illegal?

 

I smoked marijuana today, and at no point during my smoke session did I feel like hurting myself or others. I felt no ill effects, unless you count giggling at my friends baby (was not present while we were smoking FYI).

Where's the harm in that?

99% of people on this forums that say drugs are bad haven't tried drugs, and the other 1% have probably had a bad 1st time experience.

I know someone that has smoked weed for over around 25 years, hasn't taken anything else.

I also know a couple of ex-crackheads that took weed because it isn't addicting and it got them off crack, so weed is a good thing in some situations.

 

if drug use would become legal my brother would be dead .. so fuck this thread..

I belive weed should be legalise because it doesn't cause no physical harm what so ever, it's not addictive AND it causes less harm than tobacco + alchahol.

 

I hate to be rude, but that's really not my problem. His inability to stop doesn't really justify punishing everybody else.

Shredderbeam, I think the real "enemy" in all of this is the mistake people make: of taking drugs in the first place. I hold junkies accountable for the theft and general crime they commit in their efforts to get another hit, I consider them the victims of their own mistake, who need to be treated accordingly. Thus I am happy to see my money go to educate, legislate and rehabilitate with a view to reducing drug use. It could all easily be in my own, personal, best interests, given the effects unfettered access to drugs would have on society.

Where is the flaw in that?

 

The flaw is that, at least in this case, you acknowledge that the ends (a partially drug-free society) justify the means (pre-emptive action against possible criminals, taking money from all).
