VAMPIRES​

This guide is to help you understand where to kill vampires, and how to maximize on experience and profit. This is also the first guide I've ever made so I would GREATLY appreciate any suggestions on either content or setup.

GETTING THERE:
This map illustrates the best ways to get to the vampire killing spot.

1. One of the easiest ways is to take an ectophial to Port Phasymatys and just walk/run to the area shown.
2. There is a fairy ring right in the middle of the vampire slaying spot, as can be seen on the map. The code for this is ALQ.
3. If you have not done these quests the next fastest method is a charter from any place that has these ships. It costs between 1 and 2k. You can charter from Brimhaven, Musa Point dock, Port Sarim, and Catherby, among others.
4. Another fast method is the teleport to Kharyll spell in the Ancient spell book. If you or a friend have the Kharyll portal in their house it works the same.
5. Finally, you can walk from Varrock, but you still must have done Priest in Peril. This will bring you up to the Canifis Route.

SETUP:
With the account that I am testing this on, vampires do not hit me. This is with only 70 defense. As you can see in the picture I am not wearing anything degradable. This would be stupid considering the small amount of damage that vampires inflict, and would just subtract from your profit.

My inventory consists of an ectophial and basket of strawberries. The strawberries give me 25hp in 1 inventory space, and are just there in case of emergencies. The idea is to take as many vampire dust, charms, and runes to the bank on each run as possible. If you are you on ancients you would probably have Kharyll runes, and if you are using the fairy ring method a staff to operate the rings. If you walked from Varrock or took charters I would just recommend a small amount of food.

KILLING THEM:
As I’ve mentioned, these things are fairly easy to kill. They seem to have low defense so the fights do not last long. The level 61 vampires have 42 health, which is 168 xp per fight. The level 72 vampires have 52 health and therefore give 208 xp per kill (more than rock crabs).

While killing these you will also be attacked by leaches. These are level 52 and offer no drops except the occasional charm. However, they are still 170 xp per kill.

THE DROPS:
And here’s the breadwinner. Each vampire that you kill drops vampire dust. As of August 10, 2008, vampire dust sells for 850gp, and it sells fast. This means if you kill 1000 vampires, and say an even mix of 500 level 61, and 500 level 72 you are getting 188,000 xp in your choice of combat, PLUS A WHOPPING 850,000Gp.

Vampires also drop a mixture of charms, deaths runes and blood runes. I would not pick up the gold pieces that they drop because 1 vampire dust is more than you will get from a full round of gp. I would also not pick up any low level seeds or other drops for the same reason.

BANKING:
There are several ways to bank, and each is a viable method.
1. If you are using the ectophial method just pour it out and run to the bank in Port Phasymatys. After you bank your items and replenish your health empty your ectophial again and run back to the choice spot.
2. If you are using fairy rings there are two options. The first is to use a glory amulet to Edgeville, bank as I stated above, then run to the ring just east of the bank.
3. The fastest way to bank when killing vampires is to use the ring that is RIGHT BESIDE the best spot for killing these vampires. Run to the Zanaris bank, do what you need to do, then run back to the ring and you are instantly ready for another round.
4. Kharyll runes or house teleports should be your choice if that is the method you used to get here. Just teleport to Canifis or break you tab and walk into the Kharyll portal.
5. Otherwise, run to Canifis or Port Phasymatys to bank(don’t forget your tickets if you haven’t completed Ghosts Ahoy).

NOTES:
If you find a good spot, these are good monsters for short term AFKing (i.e. reading Sythe or making guides like these). Just remember to check back on your health, randoms, or to pick up your drops. A spot I like to stand is just a few steps south-west of the fairy ring location. I never have to move.

Some slayer masters give these as tasks, Mazchna especially.

If you have an amulet of salve try it here because I've been told it works on vampires. This means you hit alot harder, making these even better.

If you like to farm, vampires also drop watermelon, strawberry, spirit weed seeds, and even rannars! These are usually the seeds I pick up.

Q: How do I get several vampires to attack me at one time?
A: Getting 3 to attack you at once is not an all the time thing. But there seems to always be several vampires floating around in this area that are just waiting to attack you, compared to the amount of leeches that want to. Also notice that the little black spider that starts following you means that a level 72 vampire will jump down and attack you soon.

Thanks Koreans, I'm definitely flattered.

To be honest, I started the second fairy quest on this account like 6 months ago. I have all the requirements to finish, but you don't need hardly any requirements to get to the part where you can use the rings. Look up a guide on Zybez, I think it tells you exactly what part and which stats you need to be able to use the rings.

If you do Ghosts Ahoy and get an ectophial it's nearly as fast, just a little more running, but might save you some time if you don't have anywhere near the few requirements that you need.

Sweet. However, how much combat exp does vampires give you/hour?

 

Hmm, I haven't tested this.

It would vary depending on the which vampires you're killing, where you stand, and which banking method you choose.

If you want to check it just time yourself and see how much xp you get in one full run of whatever method you choose, then multiply that into an hour and see what you get.

Post your findings if you like, I'll do it the next time I get on.

With Fairy Rings there is a bank very near.

Didn't put this in OP. But just taking the fairy ring to Zanaris and banking there is an extremely fast way to bank considering one of the best spots to stand is right beside the ring.

Also you might want to add salve amulet (e) it hits harder on undead monsters. Vampires are undead.
