Pirating? Wrong or Right?

I only pirate photshop cs3 don't pirate movies it's a huge memory waste and like 99% of them have viruses of some kind.

If it can be demonstrated that you can genuinely own a concept, then yes, pirating would be wrong. However, can anybody demonstrate this?

I got CS3 the same way, pirating. I've never gotten a virus from downloading movies though. I guess it depends on where you DL the movie from. You either Dl the real thing of bullshit.

your not actully pirating the record.. just the software on the record... no one can actully own that is what shedder is saying..(i think) but I agree with shredder that if you can figurative own a song or a .mp3 then pirating is wrong otherwise no its not...

Recordings exist in reality, yes, which you can own. However, you cannot own the concept of the music. You may own the CD, but not the tunes themselves.

For the people who chose that it is wrong, good for you. Your throwing your money at one company who is already loaded from other company deals.
Music is one type of pirating that is extremely common. MILLIONS of people pirate music, yet rappers, singers, and bands are still making tons of bank!


EDIT: And to the dumbass who said that 99% of downloaded movies have viruses...you are sooooo wrong. Care to explain how a .mpeg or .wmv can contain a virus? Hahahaha.

 

It's hard to not pirate lol But if you do get caught pirating you're screwed.

 

I believe it should be OK to pirate, When I download stuff I only use it for my self, i don't DL for profit, and if that is the case you should be aloud as long as you don't sell it for money.

 

I think pirating is fine. Along with hm0ng I am running a pirated version of Windows XP. I am in the lower middle class I guess you would call it, and most programs I want/need to use cost more than what I can fork out. I like the idea that R.E.M had a while back, where you pay whatever you think it's worth. Also it's ridiculous that we have to pay for the Record company's big budget for a music video. Those are some of my opinions, if I need to I'll post more.

 

I think piracy should be completely legalized. Pirates are never going to be stopped, no matter how harsh the legislation is. The movie/music industry will not win the battle, since information is becoming easier to share all the time.

The industry should start producing tangibles to go with music/film, like artbooks, omake-like boxes and stuff and most importantly reducing the prices, then consumers would be more inclined to buy rather than pirate.

Low quality versions of songs should be released free on torrent networks by the artists, and high-quality ones sold online and in stores for low prices. This way both the pirates (except the ones who think they deserve everything for nothing) and the industry could be happy.

 

well since in the future i wanna be a musician and il need a recording contract etc... i dont want people pirating my songs since its stealing and i wont get a profit.

 

Of coarse its wrong. You guys are just trying to persuade yourself that its not. Movies, songs, games ect. take time and money to be made, regardless if its tangible or not its still theirs and they deserved to be paid if you use there product.

If I can download it, I will. If I want to sell that illegally downloaded thing, I will (and have ) It's not exactly right, but I don't really find it wrong.

 

I'm really against pirating. I mean put it this way - If you were the creator of Adobe Photoshop, with a value over 500$, knowing that people are getting it for free? It's really just the same thing as stealing.

Say I come to your house, steal your some of your precious items, and get away with it. I'll bet you'd feel angry that I jacked your items. You would probably feel how these companies such as Adobe feel. Their programs are getting massed pirated.

And sorry to all you Pirate Bay users, but Swedish Police are gathering tons of evidence of pirated programs, and not surprisingly, Child Porn, for court.
