    Creationism vs. evolution

Should creationism be taught in school. Although it's not science. Evolution is only a theory though the earth revolving around the sun is also a theory.

Evolution is a theory, yes. Gravity is also a theory.

No. Creationism should never be taught in schools. Ever. It is not science, at all.

Definitely not. I go to a Lutheran school and hate it a lot. I only go to it because there is no private schools that aren't funded by religious organisations. For me, it is a choice between Australia's terrible public schooling system or a school which links everything to "God did it."

It is a waste of time to teach something like creationism. There is no proof or fact taught at all by creationism, all it teaches is irrational unfounded beliefs.

My view, it should NEVER be taught in school. As said above, Creationism should be taught in church, science taught in school.

Like we don't teach things that aren't completely propven as it is. While I don't agree with creationism in schools I just thought I'd point out the flaw in your reply

Should we be tought 2 + 2 = 5? should we be tought about the flying spaghetti monster? no.

Also, theres nothing to be taught. kids, write an essay on creationism

    creationism:

God clicked his fingers and created the world as we know it out of nothing, no questions asked, fullstop.

Not only is the concept stupid, its imorral to push such nonsense believes onto children, its brainwashing.

He's saying that your logic in the fact that schools shouldn't teach things that haven't been backed up by evidence and deemed true isn't really something that is avoidable, because most schools already try to put things with no empirical evidence deeming them as thus, into the minds of the kids who actually go to those schools.

However, he agrees with your creationism statement.

No one's benefiting from learning some non-proven bible stories.

Sounds like you tried to seem smart and failed. Is that a run on sentence?

On topic, no. For the obvious reason, church and state should be seperated. Not only in the United States, but that concept should be imployed throughout the world. As for the people saying "We already do teach unproven theories", of course they're unproven, they are THEORIES. They are what we think might be true, based on whatever knowledge we have. It's a lack of enough evidence that keeps them from being facts and a lack of evidence to disprove them as just wrong.

No. That's taking Church into State, which is against the Constitution, plus, it's not fact. The earth revolving the sun is fact, but Creationism, is a THEORY. It should be taught, maybe in Sunday-School to show how idiotic it is, otherwise, no.

LegitNamesCo, it's not even a theory. Gravity is a theory.

How is gravity a theory, when I drop a ball and it falls to the floor?
That's proof, there is gravity. That makes it a fact.

I hear that evolution is taught in school, would that not be forcing an unproven belief on one?

It is forcing an unproven belief.

When I see half-evolutionized apes walking around, then I'll be taught it in school. I just walk out of the classroom every time my science teacher tries to teach it, jeeze she gets so pissed over it. :p

No...it's not forced on you, they just make you aware of its existence. They do that with religion as well. Teachers are always really careful about that. They always clearly state that this shouldn't influence you or anything when they want to refer to Christianity or anything religion related.

Evolution is scientific, and virtually proven.

If it's proven, where are half-evolved apes? And why are there still apes, if they evolved?

Yes, the ball does fall to the floor, but theres no proof that gravity is what causes it.

The theory of gravity is that every object (yes, even you) has a gravitational pull on everything, The heavier the object the stronger the force. Now there is no way to prove that gravity actually exists because we dont even know what it is, and why. we cannot see gravity, therefor it will always remain a theory.

    1) We can feel gravity.
    2) I fall to the floor just as fast as a penny does.
