Is RuneScape Botting Dead?

You pretty much see this question quite a lot if you’re active on various RuneScape Market/Botting forums.

Why do people frequently ask this question? Simply because botting on RuneScape(both on OSRS and EOC) nowadays is significantly riskier and harder compared to botting in the past couple of years.

Probably at around 2015ish, you could literally bot on multiple accounts on days end without even getting a temporary ban. Well unfortunately, things have definitely changed.

The problem here is that the entry-level on goldfarming just got significantly higher. Newer goldfarmers start out their farm then get their farm wiped in probably less than a day or a few days, depending on their method, hence making most of them quit almost immediately due to the lost funds, without even making back the their money.

RuneScape botting in general is a cat and mouse game. While Jagex’s anti-botting system improves, botters, goldfarmers, and client developers also must improve their methods and systems to beat Jagex’s system.

To answer the question: No. RuneScape botting(and goldfarming) is definitely not dead. As long as money can be made through RuneScape goldfarming, there will always be goldfarmers.

well, possibly. though if a good amount of goldfarmers quit, then there will be lesser gold coming into the game. hence, probably an increase in rsgp price.

time will tell though.

I think both the extent, and quantity of goldfarmers is highly reflective in RSGP prices. RSGP prices are primarily driven by two main forces - interest in the game, and inflation (essentially quantitative easing - where goldfarmers are the ones "printing" the money).

Definitely in the last few years we've seem much less interest in Runescape as other games progressively take away market share from Jagex. Goldfarming becomes easier to detect not only through better software and detection methods, but also through the fact that if less people are playing, it's easier to pinpoint anomalies and "high risk" accounts.

Jagex has done well sustaining interest in the game, through constant updates and increased accessibility (such as OSRS mobile), but inevitably I see many goldfarming companies (predominantly the Chinese) switching over to higher margin games. We've seen a perfect example of this play out through Maplestory - where updates actually deterred interest in the game, Nexon's banning system became very sophisticated and as a result drove Chinese companies away.

definitely. Imo jagex just needs more gold sinks to stabilize the osrsgp prices back to around $1. so much monsters that drop supplies that cost alot.
