I think the government takes smoking laws too far. I do not smoke but alot of people in my family does and i don't think the government can do the things there doing just because it repulses other people. Making smoking laws is like making you have to smell a certain way while eating at a reseraunt.

im not sure what laws your talking about, since i dont know where your from, but i think its very fair to keep smokers out of resturants, pubs, and anywhere inside any facilility. Not only is passive smoking very annoying for us non smokers, its also doing us harm. we might as well be smoking with them. Dont you think we have the right not to be exposed to such deadly fumes? remember cigerettes kill more people then any other drug, and you have to remember that smokers are drug addicts.

Smokers should be kicked outside, as we have the right to be able to breath fresh and healthy air.

My parents are smokers, well my dad still is, i think my mum has quit, and my dad is trying to. but anyway, i know what its like growing up with parents smoking in the house every night, drove me insane. Now at least they don't do it in the house anymore. If i had someone smoking next to me everywhere i went, id loose it. id lay the smack down on all of em and tell em to get the fuck outside you inconsiderate arsehole

If you can't live your life without ciggarrettes, it is just a sign of mental weakness - smokers might as well just kill themselves quickly and easily right this very moment; there would be less hassle and pain.

I prefer to eliminate weakness from my life. That being said, smokers are not the people whom I take kindly to. There is no reason to smoke, nor take any sort of illicit drug. I dissosciate myself from these people above all.

The current anti-smoking laws in Europe are crap. Smokers are made to smoke outside, but that just means you get choked when trying to walk into a shop, pub, restaurant etc. They don't go far enough.

The government is representing the will of the majority of people by restricting this disgusting and harmful addiction so that people can enjoy their meals.

personally they should just restrict smoking all together it causes people to die from second hand or if your smoking in first hand. I hate walking places and smelling smoke it's ridiculous if they put the prices to 12 usd for a pack parents addicted to smoking would most likely sell their kids short for their addiction.

As long as what they're doing is only harming themselves people should be able to do it. But as long as we are dieing from second hand smoking and spending money on food in a smokers restaurant to have it taste like ash, it should be made illegal in all public places the government has dominion over.

The truth is, the government doesnt want people to stop smoking. They make billions every year from people buying them. And then they make more millions on these smokin patches and gum, which cost MORE then ciggerettes, so then win either way.

If they make patches really cheep, or close to nothing, everyone who wanted to quit, could. But all they care about is $$

I think that if businesses (IE bars) do not want people smoking, that should be up to the business.

If people do not want to be in a smoking environment, they will not take part in that business, and it either fail, or they will disallow smoking

    i.e. let capitalism decide.

If the government wants to disallow smoking on government property, that is fine, however, I don't think they should be meddling with business.

That's a load of crap. The government, unlike a tobacco company, isn't a business, and so they don't follow the 'profit > everything else' model. There are government health warnings on packets of cigarettes, government anti-smoking laws and government stop-smoking programmes for a good reason.
