The Brett Favre BS..

If you are into sports and live in the US you probably know what's been going on.. Basically, one of history's best quarterbacks (Brett Favre) announced his retirement in March (?) I believe. But, a few weeks ago, he was found discussing with the Packers his reinstatement into the NFL. This has pretty much been the top story on ESPN for weeks, because the Packers already have been getting used to their new quarterback when Brett Favre suddenly came in and wants to play again.

My opinion is different than most people's, because I just want him to stfu and retire. Here is a few things I think right now...

- When Brett announced his retirement it was almost perfect.. He had a great season to end on (and a great career to be more specific) and he put a lot of heart into his speech. Coming back now would pretty much ruin it, making him look like a money-hungry bastard who just wants more fame.

- It's not fair at all to the Packer's new quarterback (can't remember his name! >.<) because he was looking forward to finally starting on a legendary team.

- Unless he takes the Packers to the Super Bowl and wins it dramatically, he's going to look like a dumbass for making weeks of useless news stories leading up to his mediocre season when everyone was looking for an incredible season.

- I just don't think he can accept the fact that he's done. If he had retired like he said he would, he would always be known as an incredible qb who had an incredible career and retired nobly and in a dramatic fashion. If he ends up continuing his career, he'll probably be known as the good player who didn't want to stop his career and ended as a dumbass.

Any opinions?

UPDATE: As I was writing this thread I saw on TV that Brett was reinstated into the Packers >.<. I would have just told him to find another team imo.

 

Favre probably felt jealous and wanted to be QB again, I don't know.

Money and boredom maybe, if he can feel like he can still do the job, let him do it. I believe though that if they don't make it to the Superbowl this year, hes going to do the same thing again. I say he should just ask to be a coach for the team if he still wants to be a part of it.

 

No he's not, if he was he would have accepted the 25mil offer and stayed retired.

 

I don't feel like it's really money more that he just wants to live the fame again, but don't think he understands that if he just retired it would have been fine, and he still would have been known as one of the greatest qb's in history.

 

His last season he did so well I believe that made him want to play at least another season.

He is old though. He should retire soon.

 

I think one of the reasons that Farve didn't want to stay retired is because his last pass was an interception... I don't think he wanted it too be.. anyways.. I don't think the Packers will keep him because there is an article on the Farve vs Rodgers thread saying that if they do keep him he will just be benched so I believe that he will be traded... probabally to the Vikings... anyways.. yah... lolz

 

He shouldn't come back like you said he ended it well.
But now he's just being an attention whore and coming back.

if he retired like he was suppose to, he would not be remembered as a great qb who retired dramatically. he'll be remembered as a great qb who retired.

i dont support him retiring and then going back into the nfl
but hes already gone a bit too far into have the reinstalation, so if he retires again he'll just look like a pussy

Also his last pass ever was a interception so I believe that is the reason he is coming back.

 

I think he just wants to be with his hometown and be noticed, a little desperate for attention I'm thinking.

kingnick, your opinion isn't really different, tons of people want him to retire. There was a poll of the U.S if you think Brett Favre should retire: every single state voted a majority, "yes." EXCEPT one state, which was Wisconsin.

 

i think they want him because he is the best and he may never retire till he dies lol.

 

Didn't he just get traded to the Jets? Watching NFL network, and it says he's on a plane to Mississippi wearing a Jets hat.

 

It's sad to see Favre go to another team. Then again Joe Montana left the 49ers to go to KC. It happens. The only difference is that Favre whined about it for so long.

He got traded. He's not staying with them.
