[Guide] Everything there is to know about account buying & selling

I POSTED THIS IN AN ACCOUNT SELLING FORUM and a mod told me it wasn't right to be there and suggested i poste din UE.

    Dear Sythe users,

In this topic you will learn everything you must know before buying or selling an account. Please leave feedback. I spent many hours writing this guide/tutorial till perfection.

    SELLING AN ACCOUNT
In order to obtain the best amount of geunine buyers, you must include the following in your topic. Reasons why are explained bellow.

    PICTURE QUALITY
The better the quality of the picture, the more chances you have of it being sold. I recommend .png.

    THE TITLE
Your title should be attractive but not sound noobish. It should contain the F2P & P2P combat level of the account along with stats that might interest buyers. For example, if you have a level 101 and you include it has 99str along with 99range, it will surely attract more buyers. An ideal title would be "[RSGP] Selling level 121 F2P / 129 P2P | maxed out | 99range + 99magic". Also, in front of the title include the following accordingly:

[RSGP] | You are only taking RSGP as offers. Will only sell for rsgp.
[PayPal] | Using PayPal as the only method of trading.
[E-Gold] | Using E-Gold as the only method of trading.
[WU] | Will send the cash via mail. WU = Western Union
[Swap] | Will swap account being posted for another one
[Mail] | Will send the cash via mail.

You can also put a combination of all. Like "[PayPal/Mail]".

    THE STATS PICTURE
The stats are obviously the most important part. You should NOT just include a picture of your stats but a full picture of the Runescape window showing your stats. Anyone can cut out the stats from a screenshot and claim the account as their own. That is why you should have a full RS window screenshot (not full screen though). In your text bow, you should say "Hey Sythe, this is <username> selling this account!" or something alike.

Blocking certain sensitive stats (such as Summoning, Hunting, Mining, and Construction) is also EXTREMELY important. Jagex Staff *do* look at these forums. If you don't block this, it is extremely easy for Jagex to identify your account and ban it for Real World Trading.

Example on how to block: Lets say I have 89 Summoning, 51 Construction, and 75 Hunting. I'm also showing my Range, Attack, Strength, Defense, Magic, Prayer, and Hitpoint stats. I block 89 Summoning to show 8*, Construction: 5*, Hunting: 7*. that way, it is much harder for Jagex to identify who you are.

    RECOVERIES & BANK PIN
Before selling an account, remove the Recovery Questions. When you have done so, take an screenshot of the login window (thing that appears right after you login). This window shows if you have a bank pin and/or recovery questions.

    THE BANK
If you are selling for RSGP, you should clear out the bank. Except for non-tradeables. If you are selling for anything other than RSGP, leave the bank alone. Including .png quality pictures of your bank when selling for real-life cash could tremendously increase the interest of buyers.

    OFFENSES
Although few buyers do this, including a picture of the offenses of the account also helps. The less offenses it has, the better.

    ACCOUNT INFORMATION
The following are things that buyers must know. When I say "you", I mean the user/person selling the account.

-> Do you have the e-mail the account was created with? (if any)
This is key to recovering an account. Not all accounts have an e-mail. Newer accounts do not. A few years ago, it asked your e-mail when creating an account. You must provide this if when you created your account, it required an e-mail.

-> Do you have a log/records of all previous passwords?
If you want buyers to be sure you are legit, you must have a required of all your previous passwords. From the first password ever, to the 2nd ever. The older the password, the better.

-> Do you remember/have with what ISP the account was created with?
This is also vital. Buyers (after buying, before, during trade [MM], ect) must know this.

    -> Membership information.
Payment confirmation numbers, earliest PIN (if you ever became p2p using a pin), payment methods, e-mails used, PayByCash confirmation numbers, and ect. The more correct information you have, the better.

-> Do you know/remember when the account was created?
if you know, or remember, when the account was created (Month and year, day is not required), then this could also aid tremendously.

If you answered "Yes" to all the questions then great! If you already have it all accumulated, fantastic! but if you don't (yet you KNOW it) then go make a Notepad and put it all in there. Double check to know everything is correct.

    HOW MUCH
You must obviously put how much you are looking for. What is the minimum to offer. What payment method(s) are you accepting. Including your MSN (AIM or Yahoo!) is also pretty much required. All else that a buyer should know.

    SUMMARY

So in short, in your account selling topic you should have:

    - Full RS window stats picture (make sure to say "hey there sythe!" in chat/textbox)
    - No recovery & no bank pin picture
    - Offenses picture
    - Must say what account information you have
    - How much you are looking for
    - Payment method(s) you accept
    - Your e-mail

    :)

    -------
Now, the following is for the buyers. Avoid being scammed!

    BUYING AN ACCOUNT
This section is pretty short but it goes to the point and explains what you must know and be aware of.

    THE SELLER

Look at his rank. If its a Leecher, be extra aware. You must know though, simply because he is a leecher it does not mean he is a scamemr but the CHANCES are, he is.

    THE STATS
Look at the stats. If it's something you like then keep reading. If its only a stat picture (and not a full RS window picture) then be skeptical. He/she COULD simply cut it out. If you are not interested in the account because of the stats, then leave the topic.

    THE PRICE
Look at how much the buyer is looking for. If its something you can't afford, then you shouldn't bother any further. If its something you can afford and are willing to, then keep viewing the topic.

    PAYMENT METHOD

If she/he is not accepting a method you will most likely pay by, then no point in you looking at the topic. Note that with PayPal, almost every buyer will ask you to Claim & Cancel. You send the payment, then claim it back and afterwards, cancel the Claim. Like this, the seller knows the money stays in his account.

    THE RECOVERIES & BANK PIN

This is very important. If the topic does not a recovery & bank pin picture, then you should ask for one. If it has one but it shows that the account has recoveries, then

    ACCOUNT INFORMATION

This is the most important. If the seller is not providing you the account information then this is a serious "down fall" for the seller. If he/she is, then great!

    OFFENSES
If the account has way too many offenses and you know you some times flame people, callthem names, or thins like that, then start thinking.

    Adding the seller
Ok. So you added the seller. Now, when he/she comes online, tell him/her you are interested in the account. Discuss the price and payment methods. I recommend you use an Official MiddleMan. If the seller declines the use of an Official MM, ask him/her why. If its a lame reason without any back proof, then simply block him. If she/he accepts, continue the conversation. Tell him/her your offer. Ask if she/he has the logs of membership confirmation number and all that (plus all that I said in "selling an account" section).

Once you have agreed t oeverything and you, buyer, are satisfied. Go find an Official MiddleMan. You must know that buyers pay fees.

Strong sings of scammer (from sellers):

    - I don't use an MM for any reason. Sorry.
    - I'm trusted! You go first.

If you are scammed, then report it here: http://sythe.org/forumdisplay.php?f=253
Make sure to include PICTURES of the chatlog between you and the scammer.

HOW TO CHECK IF AN ACCOUNT HAS RECOVERIES

    Ask for the RSN.

    1. Roll over "Account" and select "Account Management"
    2. Scroll all the way down and click "Recover Password"
    3. Now click "Recover a stolen password"
    4. Scroll all the way down until you reach the recovery questions part. Accounts WITHOUT recoveries will have these questions:

    Answer to recovery question 1
    Answer to recovery question 2
    Answer to recovery question 3
    Answer to recovery question 4
    Answer to recovery question 5

Accounts WITH recoveries will have any other questions.

If they were your friends, then why would you need to know all this?

You seem awfully suspicious to me.

I think you forgot about that.

Also, like I said, I'm not idiot. What are you suspicious about? Just because I know more about trading accounts than you do?
