Guide to using the Nintendo DS

When you first turn on the DS, and get past the starting message, you should see four panels and 3 buttons on the touch pad. On the top screen, there should be a clock, and a calendar.

Touch Screen Buttons

The first button you will see is a button displaying an icon, and the name of the DS game you have put in. Press this button to play the game. The next button is Pictochat, which i will explain better later in the guide. Next is the DS Download Play. If you go to a local game store, there may be a sign for something special like "Pokemon Diamond/Pearl Darkrey!" Then there will be a DS Download play icon near it. If you go near that sign and use the Download Play button on your DS, you will receive a special item that lets you get to Newmoon Island. (Where you get him). Next is the "Start GBA Game" Button. This button shouldn't need an explanation and if it does you should be ramming your head into a wall somewhere instead of reading my guide.

Icons

Under all of those buttons should be 3 icons. A sun, a DS, and a clock. Press the sun to modify the light on your DS. Press the clock to modify the time of the system. Press the DS to modify the settings.

Settings

The first picture you should see after you press the DS icon to access the settings, is the wrench. Press it, and you should see a globe, an exit door, and a GBA. The globe modifies the language that you use for your DS. (English, Deutsch, Français, Español, Italiano, and Japanese (i think ) The GBA lets you choose which screen your GBA games display on when you play them on your DS.

The next picture you should see is a calendar and a clock. Press it, and you will see an alarm clock, a clock, and a calendar. Hit the alarm clock to set an alarm. Hit the regular clock to set the time. Hit the calander to set the date.

The next picture is a man. Press him and you can manage your multiplayer options. First is the man with words coming out of his chest. Press it, and you can set the name of your DS. Above that is a bunch of squares. There you can set the color scheme of your DS. The candle thing that looks like a lightbulb sets your birthday. The one that looks like a man saying things enters a personal message.

The last one looks like a sniper scope. Use this to calibrate the touch screen. Press B and the system will shut down, and it will save the changes.

Pictochat

When you first enter Pictochat you will get 4 rooms to choose from. You and your friends should join one so you can write to each other. After you select the room, a message will come up saying "Now entering (A): <Your DS Name>". On your touch screen, you should see a blank box and a type pad. You can draw on the blank box, but also type in it. When you are done drawing or typing, there are 3 buttons on the side. "Send" doesn't need an explanation obviously. The down arrow copies the last message said and copies it into the blank box. The explosion thing lets you leave the room. On the other side, there are more buttons. The first 2 let you toggle between eraser and pen. The next 2 let you modify the size of your pen. The next 5 let you toggle the keyset on your touch screen. The "A/1" button is the default one that you have. Next is "ã". That lets you access the accented words, the euro, pence, and pounds signs. Next is a Japanese letter. This lets you access the Japanese words. The next is an "@", which lets you access symbols, and the last one is a smiley face, and that lets you access the smileys.

Well i hope you enjoyed my guide, and that after reading this, you know a little bit more about your Nintendo DS.

Unless you're some dumb five year old who doesn't know how to use electronics, then I doubt this guide will be very helpful to owners of a DS. Besides that, it's really not that hard to read the instruction manual.

Nontheless, great effort.

Very simple guide, yet well laid out and well structured. It's all right.

 

Noone my age uses them, however good guide yet again.

 

I don't use them, guide 8 out of 9

 

its an alright guide, but that info comes with the DS.
