Im not christian but i do believe in god, who pretty much explains the cycle and formation of the life cycle for all the objets/items/things/people in earth.

 

Can you prove that it explains everything?

 

Is God an arbitrary hypothesis then, to neatly explain absolutely everything? Good thing science didn't follow this train of thought - we'd still be cowering at eclipses.

I don't believe the whole concept of the bible and I just can't get my head around 'you go to heaven or hell' when you die and believe any of it.

Kill every person who works on Sunday? Umm no, not kill rofl. It's a sin and since everyone commits sins then everyone would be killed by now, it means they have committed a sin by working on Sunday and they should go confess.

Exodus 35:2:

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death.

Leviticus 20:13:

If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death; their blood is upon them.

Deut 21:18-21. It says:

If someone has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not obey his father and mother, who does not heed them when they discipline him, then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate of that place. They shall say to the elders of his town, ‘This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious. He will not obey us. He is a glutton and a drunkard.’ Then all the men of the town shall stone him to death. So you shall purge the evil from your midst; and all Israel will hear, and be afraid.

That is a whole lot of teenagers that we need to kill.

Now tell me god doesnt tell you to kill people...

I think that there are too many exacts in the universe for it to be random. But I beleive your an evolutionists? Well a force as powerful as evolution wouldnt stand still with the technilogical advances we have made. If evolution existed and technoligy stopped it, wouldnt we all be de-evolving?

 

Before answering that kind of question. You should ask yourself: Who's/what's god. They are thousands of gods, depending on religions. But generally god is someone somewhere who 'controls us' and make us happier with a better life and will send us to heaven if we behave well in our human life.
Now I know many theory about god, but the one that makes more sense TO ME is this one:... In medieval age in the 16th century a King said that if you live like god expects you too, he will grant you of gold and happiness. And about a 120 years ago scientist found a book that said that this king in question, said that to have a nice and happy town, the king himself didn’t believe in god. So my first theory would be that god have been created by humans so they live happy and they are not preoccupied about their death, because everyone knows that humans first fear is death.

Personally I don’t Believe in god, I believe in science. Like shredderbeam signatures: God is our ignorance; science, our knowledge.

The only reason I have left to believe in God is the origin of life. The Bible explains that God created everything, but science, as far as I know, does not explain how everything came about. The quintessential question that is answered by religion and not science is how "nothing became something"

 

Why do you still think God exists?

What exacts are there that you feel should not be random?

Remember that evolution takes place on the scale of tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, and millions of years. Modern technology has really only been around for around 100 years.

Don't forget, the proper response to something you do not know is "I don't know". Then, examine the available evidence, and form a hypothesis. If evidence tends to show that a God created everything, then well and good. If not, then you must rethink your hypothesis.

 

But when one chooses to believe in one or the other, religion explains what science does not regarding the origin of life, correct? Or does science explain, or currently attempting to explain, the origin of life?
