Post any ideas you have for a backstory for the game, and I'll try to work a select few into a backstory. A backstory is the story of what is happening/happened in the world as your character becomes present
The world of <Insert Name Here> was a peaceful one. Plants flourished, plenty of livestock, no wars. It was a prosperous time, in which people had begun ideas for new technology. One day, they tried to make a concoction that makes animals 2x bigger, and plants to grow 5x faster. But instead, it killed them, and it was locked away. Now, an evil man named <Insert Name Here> has stolen the formula and is using it on parts of the world. Whats more? He working on improving it so it will kill things even faster! You have to stop him. Find him in his lair and kill him before he destroys all living creatures! This is set in the World of Warcraft times (With technology and mideval stuff), and is kind of based off of the lich king. Fill in the blanks however. This storyline sets the basis for random events as well. (For instance, <Insert Name Here> appears and blasts the area around you with the gas. You have to get away before it kills you.)
The problem with that is, it has an ending. The good thing about most MMORPGs is that they are really never ending.
well lets just say a long long time ago <insert character name here> awoke from a slumber that changed his life. In his dream an oracle came to him and told him that one day he/she would become a very powerful force across the world and it was up to him on how to use his powers whether for good or for evil. If He became a good person he would fight evil for ever as there was a never ending assault on different areas and it was up to him whether to prevent them or to join them he would become reknown and very famous. If he were to choose the path of evil he would have the ability to access some dark magic and quests that werent available before like destroying towns and cities and he would be feared just like the concept of fable people would frown upon seeing him and maybe run and it would be hard to communicate with people. In Pvp we could make it so that the good guys have the good magic and abilities and the bad guys use dark magic and different abilities. I dunno if this is too much im pretty much just spitballing right now.
(Dark Forest Scenery) A Dear crosses, as you merge from the depths of the hidden grassland. You walk slowly, about to catch dinner. As you go in for the kill, you notice an crack in the ground. It's glowing, but obviously there's no logical explanation, you feel a hand touch your chest, then in your mothers voice you hear your name, and the sound is coming from this hole, you try to resist, but your mothers voice is just so soothing, you have to check it out. You touch the hole, and all of a sudden, you black out. (Secluded room Scenery - A Single chair is in the middle) You wake up, you don't remember the room, or anything about it to identify where you are, but you can't. You can hear a faint sound of laughing, and music. You stand up, and walk out. Nobody is out there, except an single man, elderly and lonely, sitting by himself at a bar-table. You look at him, and you stomp your foot to get his attention, no reply. You then ask him, where Am I? He looks up, and replies "You're in {Name of MMORPG here}." Then from that, you pick your class - your attributes, your gender, name, etc. Then you just continue from there.
once your character is created. He must go to The sorcerer and have him tell you that you are the propercy to bring peace to the land.
Well as most people here already have played Runescape, they can see how stupid game stories can be when no thought it put in. For this game we need to make the game story interesting. We also have to look into the future because you don't want to make the story plot and later on change it. If different classes are put into the game, we could make different story lines for each character.
