Rap. Rock. They're both great, why is there always hostility between the two? Except it, most of you are 15ish, and if not, probably still teenagers, who are on the computer a shit load of your time. because if you go to shows... you'll see that the actual artists actually respect each other. It's never really the artist trashing other genres, it's mostly the fans. I mean, I listen to rap, I grew up in the ghetto until I was probably 14, I learned to respect rap... because it does require talent. if you're in a band you'll know that the music is usually made first, then the lyrics second... which is how a rap is made... they're essentially the same thing in a way... I listen to both rap and rock equally. I understand both have sub-genres, I don't listen to all of them; but I've given them all a shot.

Music is a big part of society; I understand that. I'm sorry "thugs and gangsters" amuse me as much as "metal-heads and emos." Just because you enjoy music doesn't mean you make your life revolve around worshiping it.

I'm really not trying to trash anyone, but I mean, give everything a chance. stop arguing.

Yeah, it all starts in the threads people make that are vote rap or Rock, and then someone votes and if a person saw that someone voted Rock then the rap person will start flaming, or vice versa.

 

I listen to rap, never to rock. I don't mind if someone doesn't like rap, I really don't care. Only time I will start trashin rock, is if they trash on my music.

 

I agree, everyone as there different point of music, and different type they like.

 

I agree completely, people say rap takes no skill like saying they only use computer instruments ? I'd like to see some kids that say that make some beats that are decent enough to get put on.

I dont like Rap, I really cant see the rythm within it, that matches to anything that I could lern to like, even that I tried..

So I stick to Rock/Metal.. Because, I like it better...

Idc if people likes Rap, or Rock... both is cool in it's own way.

 

Trust me, they use programs on the computer to make beats. What makes techno and rap different is the tempos and the e-instruments they used throughout, and of course the lyrics

You guys every hear of the album "Punk goes Crunk"? Its actually really cool, these punk rock bands take rap songs and do them, alot of the songs sound really good. . .to me anyway.

Reddogwwa; Punk goes Crunk is sick man. I listen to it on Myspace. hella good sound. I wrote this mainly because I just get tired of hearing closed minded statements about music, because for the most part, the people saying negative things usually sound very. VERY uneducated. IMO, music isn't even that bad with the closed minded statements, always falls on Religion. BUT This is Music section. anyone got some favorite bands? I'm sorta hoping to hear some good ones I've never heard of before... Please fill me in

 

First let me point out that there is already a thread like this, you simply won't change anything. nor will you get famous for making a revolutionizing post if thats what you think.

Anyways, bands respect other bands yes, but you will almost ever see a collaboration of bands at a show of rap and rock etc. unless the bands have a rap vibe.

You have also apparently never been in a band nor known many because song's are usually written first then they get the feel of how the song is going to sound sang (highs and lows etc.) then base the essentials (drums bass around that) then have the lead and or rhythm guitar fill in the voids.

Not to rant about music but rap in general does not take talent. Anyone can talk somewhat fast about random BS leading in from one line to another putting someone down, or how hard they are with throwing a rhyme in here and there etc. the things in rap that does take talent is making influential songs with an actual meaning.

Well I will start out by saying that I will not rap, because it is not what I do. I am not a vocalist and highly doubt I ever will be I am a guitarist and at times a keyboardist not to say that I can't rap It's just that my voice will sound like shit as even rap has a little bit of singing involved, you have to have a decent voice to be able to rap decently (for the most part) Not to mention it wouldn't matter because I would never make lyrics you like (for example if you look at the lyrics I wrote for my band) you will see I don't write lyrics about being a hard-ass etc. Also before you go saying It's because I can't rap or something lets put it into perspective.

Things you need to rap

A. lyrics with a nice flow
B. a voice
C. ability to rhyme from time to time
D. a beat of some kind that helps carry the flow of the song

The next thing you should probably learn to count I am in fact 19 not 13. Next I don't associate myself with Gothic kids for the most part just not my type of thing. and you apparently haven't been here for very long because I am not here to fit in I am here to voice my opinion if you haven't noticed around 60% of sythe dislikes me and 40% of them are because I don't try to fit in. I say what i think and I think what I feel so you will just have to sit there and appreciate it.

That last part is kinda funny. It's odd that you should say that when several people are pleased with the advice I give them and the how to play a guitar guide I made and I am sure they will think the same about the next 3 guides I have lined up, not to mention my debating in the off topic section.

As I already said to someone like it or not but you need people like me here, without people like me this site would be boring real quick.

 

I agree with most the posts on here; but for the people trashing the other genre (Which contradicts the entire point of this section) You should honestly try not to be so closed minded, there is a difference between that voicing your opinions. Try to find that middle marker and land there.
