[APPROVED/REVIEW] Clickbait Market Threads

I am suggesting that clickbait prices from market thread titles in the gold section be removed.

This was previously an issue and was supposedly addressed, however users are now circumventing the ruling that "you must keep your market thread prices up to date" by adding a simple button on their keyboard (+).

The argument that gold traders prices change so often it is impossible for them to keep it up to date is a lie; and if its that big of a deal to them, dont include the price in the thread title. Personally, my buy price changes more often than my sell price, since i pay more when im low stock and lower when i have high stock. How do i address this? 3000+ Vouches ⭐ $300 Donor ⭐ Buying Bulk 07 Gold (100m to 25b) ⭐ INSTANT PAYMENTS! ⭐ PP/BTC/ETH/UKBT = simply i don't put the price i am currently buying for. If i can do it so can others.

Currently some users are advertising selling gold for a wide range of prices, what i propose is that the thread title if it contains a price, must be achieveable at the time i message that user. E.g. if a user is selling gold from 0.65$+ but when you click on the thread their price is 0.65-0.75, that 0.65 price they quote must be achievable if i buy all of their current stock - if they won't sell for 0.65 then they should be infracted / thread lock for x amount of time, repeat offenders = longer locks.

0.65+ is completely clickbait when they are infact selling for 0.7+ but are using this sly marketing technique to get more views which is unfair to other traders. And if everyone starts doing this it only becomes a bigger issue.

This is one of the biggest annoyances when selling/buying gold, along autobumpers bumping threads even when the person/website in question have no interest in the deal, plenty of times I have seen a thread bumped just a minute ago, go to the website, and they're not currently buying gold, which is just as annoying imo.

the main issue as a goldseller myself is, i feel like my thread title isnt competitive because i don't want to also mislead others myself leading to bad customer satisfaction.

It's almost like to stay in the game, i need to clickbait myself which seems wrong. Personally i feel like the majority of sythe users would prefer to see accurate prices so they dont have to waste their time by going to a site or skype user who isnt advertising their actual going rate.

 

I completely do not support this suggestion at all.

By putting 0.65+/m, this means .65 is the MINIMUM, so for someone who puts 0.7+/m as a sell price, that means they are selling for 0.7/m as a minimum price.

Prices have ALWAYS ranged due to different payment methods. Just because someone puts 0.65+/m does not necessarily mean they will sell for that price just because you buy their entire stock. It simply means that that is their minimum price point.

 

The point is 0.65 is not their minimum, if they are not currently selling for that.

Entire stock / payment method, by at least one way of these 0.65 should be achievable at that point in time, if they are advertising it.

Obviously this can be abused again anyway if i say im selling gold for 40 cents per mill in lego via irl meetup. Lego price is based upon RRP @ a shop of my choosing. The payment method would need to be also commonly accepted.

 

Well I don’t see how it can be abused. I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “Lego price” but this can be sorted easily by simply putting the rates into your thread. For example if you said you were selling 07 for 40c/m via IRL meet up and put terms and conditions in your thread, I don’t see how this can be a problem.

I understand somewhat where you’re coming from however the rule was that all titles and threads must be kept up to date, so the easiest way of doing this is simply by putting .65+/m in the title and then having a minimum price point of .7-.81/m in your thread, as the .7 in the thread would fall under the .65+/m in the title. I just feel that people should not be reliant on the title and actually view the thread to get accurate pricing.

Also, following up to this, if the person is not doing the price that they claim they are doing with any payment method or for any stock why don’t you just report the thread for false advertisement or discuss it with a Moderator/Administrator for them to handle?

 

I meant a payment method that no one realistically will ever accept, but because they offer it they could put a lower price.

i fully support. It is sad that so many people bs about their actual price for clicks. Need a realistic price that they are actually using and not some loophole price point to advertise

I understand and agree on Dieze's point. But I don't see this as a major problem personally, the rule of price stated in thread title must be updated regurlary is fine as it is.

if they're using a market tactic to circumvent a fair rule, they also suffer loss of customers and trust from people who thought otherwise. I can instead suggest to an honest gold trader like you to be transparent about your prices, post your rates for the current day and previous day. I'm also quite certain you have a apporximately 0.01c-0.02c margin on buying/selling gold normally, why not use this to your advantage instead?

 

i think that the same can be said when people add [DONOR] to their titles when they only have donated $5, or those who in their location write ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐TRUSTED⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. They're adding false security to people who visit their threads

This. The lack of enforcement/price range loophole unfairly punishes market users who ACTUALLY FOLLOW THE RULE because it diminishes the credibility of their accurately posted price.

 

Definition of a price range is irrelevant in regards to the actual rule

"Your sales/purchase threads must be accurate and updated promptly to reflect your actual prices/offers. If you advertise an offer significantly different to your actual prices then this is false advertising."

If you're not accepting offers within your price range, then the price range you're offering is incorrect and shouldn't be allowed.

 

Support for all reasons stated above, its misleading. Remove prices from thread titles. However they can just do the same thing within their thread to be fair (better but still)...

Simple solution. PUT .10+/m in your thread title and just roast everyone else.

Also stop your bitching - How the hell can people even whine about market threads when there's barely a page active in RS3 and 2 in OSRS ??? You could not bump your gold threads and still get traffic due to how slow the Sythe market is!
