Repenting Sins - Priest or Police?

We all know that if we:-

    • 'Steal a penny' we must repent.
    • 'Be cruel and ungrateful' we must repent.
    • 'Commit adultery' we must repent.
    • 'Become a paedophile' we must repent.
These are just some of the "unseen" commandments that we must repent.

    Keywords:

Repent: To go back on yourself, i.e contradict yourself to good not bad.

What i am trying to get across is:

Everyone understands the typical '1-way-box' inside a local church/parish.

Where which a sinner goes into the box and related to the priest of his/ her wrong-doing.

    • If a sinner were to go in and say they 'stole a penny' then the priest would forgive and forget.
    • If a sinner were to go in and say they 'abused a child' then the priest would forgive and forget.
    =============================================

    • If a sinner were to go in and say they 'abused a child' but instead of a pritest being on the other side it was a police officer..
..don't you think he wouldn't forgive and forget but arrest and shout?

I would like to discuss the advantages and disadvantages this would have:

Well it depends, some police such as fathers would forgive and forget their sons if they stole a penny or abuse a child. However, I think the sinner, which is son, will probably admit and let his father lock him up in jail, instead of accepting his forgive and forgetness. People do change if they commit a sin. It just take time.

    Off topic, but awsome quote.

And sin is just a man made idea of right and wrong, which is also percieved by humanity. Nothing is evil or good; all just actions carried out by an individual.

This kind of contradicts what I said, but I thought it was fitting... "The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance." -Socrates

Im not religious, iv never been to a confession.

If it where a police officer you would be confessing a crime, not a sin, and ofcourse you will be punished.

Priest doesn't forgive and forget lol, my friend committed adultery and the priest told him he had to confess about 3 days a month and he has to pray a ton, there is a difference in sins and how they're treated, it's not just oh I forgive you everything is okay, lol yeah right if it was like that then I would commit every sin and then just ask the priest, free ticket to Heaven and I can commit all the sins I want.

If you are talking about repenting for your SINS. Then a priest... The police aren't agents of this so called god you speak of. However if you want too repent for your actions then you should goto the police... That might sound like the same thing but just read it a few times, you will get it.

The fact is, is that priests have the "power" of God, to forgive etc but as god does not exist the priest is wrong and in our world of science and order, a crime results in a punishment, a fundamental process.

If you want a punishment go to the police, if you want to have a better chance of getting into heaven and pray a lot of our fathers and hail Mary's then go to the priest. The priest will keep your sin a secret so he can not tell a cop or anyone.

Well it doesnt matter b/c if the guy who raped a lil girl thought he was talking to a priest but he was talking to a police officer that would not be punishable by law. Considering it is part of his religion to confess his wrong doings.
