The Existence of God

God is not a tangible being (so no i do not believe in the Christian god). we are our own gods and follow our own desires.

 

No god does not exist and in my opinion anyone who believes in him is utterly stupid.

I believe in God as a Catholic and I know 100% sure it is real. I also remember threads like these and people would always seem so convincing that God isn't real, like Shredderman for example, he may sound very convincing, but if you've seen a spirit or an angel, then you would know he's wrong. That's why I stay with Catholocism. P

Plus, if you're an atheist that must suck ass dude, no after life just die and it's all over for you. Even if I had a ton of doubts I would want to stay with a religion so I'm not depressed my whole life.

 

I believe the correct term for the above would be mental disorders/psychotic problems.

 

Nah, or else paranormal investigators(people that help remove demons from hell from a person's home) would be out of business and would be homeless, and they're not because they get a job about EVERY day.

well my opinion is kind off strange i dont belive in anyway that there is a god but i am living pretty good tbh, but when i fall in an disturbing u might say kind of problems.. i somehow have faith in god.. well thats just my opinion guys, i actully agree more with shred well thanks for your time.

 

Come on, man. Nobody wants to watch a 2-4 hour long video about some incredibly biased Muslim making bizarre rationalizations about things such as prophecies. If God exists, s/he needs to appear to every single human on Earth to prove his or her existence. No stupid prophecies, those are easy to make. Try to read the prophecies with an open mind, you'll notice they're written much like horoscopes - in a way that they can be interpreted differently by just about anyone to make it seem genuine.
Example, a biblical prohecy reveals that "Pillars of smoke, rise into the heavens" (what we now know to be outerspace)? One interpretation could be nuclear bombs exploding. Another could be a forest fire which also produced pillars of smoke rising high into the stratosphere, and along with it blood and death of everything in its path. Interpretation of scripture is subjective, and as all things subjective, can be manipulated to suit ANY particular purpose, especially if you ignore the parts that don't fit, and concentrate on the parts that do.

What exactly does God answer for you? That your favourite sports team wins? The day AIDS and cancer is permanently cured world-wide via prayers is the day I start believing in a benevolent deity.

We don't have to believe in him to know that he isn't doing anything. Just because something you prayed for happened doesn't mean "OMFG GOD DID THIS". Universe..Suitable?! Do you live isolated from reality on some lost realm? People die horrible deaths daily. We (the U.S.) are in a war with Iraq right now. And IMO, there are more atheists now then there ever were before. I think people are actually starting to realize that the idea of a "god" with superior powers is absolutely ridiculous. Some almighty savior in which we have no clue how he got here.

Now why would he make it hospitable until judgement day? Why not just judge now and get it over with? How would you know what he is doing now?

I have tried believing in God. I've been to a church before, and actually stayed overnight for three days with around 100+ other people at a church camp. Didn't work, nothing special happened, still didn't believe in him. Evolution explains things at a much more logical point of view.

 

wow thank you finally someone that agrees with me. me and this guy here for example cant prove god to you but if u dont want to take our word for it than enjoy the end to your life completely. we will be havin fun when ur life ends, simple as that. even if you are some crazy logical athiest that doesnt mean athiesm is the way to go. Even if u had really good evidence i would never sink down to your depressing level.

I have said that like 1000000 times. It's impossible to be 2 right religions for the same god at the same time. So , Bible and Christian were good and right be4 Islam shows up. It's the last religion so its the right one. Christian were changed by ppl so it's not the right one anymore. How can u believe that God has son and then say I prayed for him. God would neva marry or have a son.
My advice to u is to try Islam . I prayed for god many times and believe me , I knew they were all answered.

Making a thread that poses a question such as do you believe in God is so pointless and it just asks for trouble.

There's no point arguing over religion because everybody is so goddamn sure of what he believes in which is a problem in our modern-day world.

Although everybody is that "tolerant" and "open-minded", when it comes to religion everybody is stubborn as fuck. Nobody would ever question something that's nice because it might turn out it's not true and once you realise how much thought was put into religion it just hurts to know you can't hang onto anything anymore. And by saying that there was thought put into creating a religion I'm demonstrating the point I'm trying to make.

To me, it just seems absurd to believe in something that staged and predictable but I guess to people who have never thought about what they actually believe in it kinda makes sense.

I'm just fed up with religion and I am bashing it because it's non-sense to me and if your not open-minded enough to think over what you believe in then I'm not giving religion another chance because I did give it a chance once and it failed me.

I personally believe in God because I have always just thought that If there is no life after death then what? No adventure. A lot of you may know I am copying this saying but. For the trained mind "Death is but the next great Adventure" - J.K. Rowling I personally believe that.

 

You believe in God because you prefer the idea of life after death? You do realize that reality is objective, and what you believe has no bearing upon which religion, if any, is ultimately correct, right?
