alright so be this a childish comment or not but shredder u are a total asshole. a lot of people have strong faiths and all you are is shutting people down. this has nothing to do with religion or science but you should try to not be such a doushebag to people in life and more people will like you, just a tip. life isnt about being superior.

Don't be a dumbass.... If you're going to post something without even thinking just leave. There are MANY scientific theories which explain how we came to be.

Why do you feel shredder does this? This is an open debate, and he is very adamant about his position. I believe he defends it well. To be completely honest with you, you're the one sitting here calling him an asshole and telling him that people would like him more if he changed his attitude. FYI, he's plenty respected and is liked by many...

Oh, but the people around me have had their fair share of luck too. I didn't pray for them, but they've avoided life-threatening situations, and so on. Science can explain these things rather simply. I find my life more fulfilling, so if that makes me selfish, fine.

I am using a generalisation as a reference, to make the idea easier to project. A spiritual thing which I can never understand? Maybe not. I can't understand why you would believe in something like this without any factual evidence, just word of mouth and mass-produced scriptures which contradict themselves.

If you really want to know about my sexual life, I'll tell you - I see no point in masturbation. You're a bit of a hypocrit for generalising and stereotyping, I think. Let me quote you:
Do you enjoy getting angry at an inanimate computer screen, I wonder. It seems you are generalising and stereotyping me.

If you are going to get in to a debate about something like this, I suggest you bring evidence. If you can't provide evidence, then you simply can't explain your own beliefs or how an entity such as a "God" exists. Therefore, you are following a blind faith.

Emm. I'd rather call it Holy Muslims Book but w/e.
I have argued with Shredder here over than 50 pages and u can check previous page for that. We reached at last that u can't prove god existence or non-existence. There are some proofs for some ppl which isn't acceptable for another. Like '' How we got there " or "life is very complex and go right"
I like those two sentences but some ppl don't. Here where believing show up.If there were an evidence u want (like god showing himself . Or the sky open and we see angels ....etc) then there will be no believing anymore. It will lost its meaning. So after all it's everyone choice and everyone will handle his own choice at last. So stop arguing about this cuz as I can see it's useless and I can't see anyone who changes his believes cuz of this thread.
Wow , I can see u are having friends every day :D
Will u stay here like Foreva. U neva get BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORED :(

So because I require rational evidence to believe in something, that makes me ignorant. Oh yes, sobeit. I am open to other's opinions, but I am also adamant about my own feelings, which is why I choose to post here. How is that taking it way too far?

If anything, you have taken it too far. Religion ensnares people from an early age. The critical mind is still developing, hence what is "learned" back then is almost set in stone for that person. Fortunately stone can be broken - prime example: Santa Claus. Young children, though human beings nonetheless, are not yet aware of what is right and wrong. They will believe almost anything you tell them.

As you have requested, I have quoted you. However, why would I feel good about myself by doing so? I simply enjoy debating. It is just a shame people here can't provide a rational debate.

no you are right i have brought up some irrational comebacks but the only thing i dont think you get is that it sounds like you believe everyone here that is defending god is just following what they are told..."are not yet aware of what is right and wrong. They will believe almost anything you tell them." ya know maybe i'm being ignorant of your opinion but i do not believe in god because i'm being told to its because i want to and its my own decision. all im saying is im not a mindless religious nut tryin to recruit you because im goin by my gut to believe in god. I respect your views but don't take me for another steriotypical kid that follows everyone else because i have always stayed true to my morals and not what other people try to tell me what to do.

Do your morals include cursing people out on forums because they fail to see any evidence in your argument? I just thought I might point that out.

Also, I'm not trying to pick on you here, but it would be in your best interest to not post in the debate section anymore unless you have evidence backing your argument (for whatever topic that may be). The moderators and respected members here (along with many others) are very intelligent and will use logic to back their reasons. Just do some research before hand. It doesn't hurt to look at BOTH points of view and then come to a logical assumption in your standings :D Looking at both views makes you less ignorant of others too :D

    The Existence of God

I for one, am Catholic. Yet I tend to belive that there is no God. We are a by-product of Evolution. One thing led to another. Just like everything else in space. God had nothing to do with creating anything, we become we are through the process of Evolution.

Religion is just a base of hope - a 'thing' to explain the unexplainable. People didn't know why hurricanes appeard? People didn't know why there were stars at night? Because back then, humans didn't have the technology we have now, and the intelligence to comprehend that everything happens for a reason.

Just like you push over a can of apple-juide, it falls over. That happened for a reason, I pushed it.

Going off topic here now, so I'll go back on it.

As I stated before, Religion and God are just a base of explaination and hope. Nothing more nothing less.

What theories do you look up to? They are called "theories" for a reason. So not the actual fact. There is a god, you have to explain how all this so called "life" come about, and why we will just "die" and not have a heaven or hell.

Do you know the definition of the word "Theory"?

    From the internet:
    From the Macquarie dictionary:
    From the Oxford dictionary:
I believe you are an idiot.

    The Existence of God

morals... morals to me has nothing to do with religion. Im not religious, im an athiest, tho i believe in being spiritual. i dont need a god, i dont need concequence to keep me inline, I know whats right and wrong, and i believe people that be good for the sake of being good are better people then people that be good from fear of eternal punishment.

Also, you need to be open minded. The thing with religious people is that even with the cold hard facts in front of them, they ignore them. which is complete ignorance. im not saying this is the case with you, but im saying you need to be able to listen to the others arguement, to question your own beliefs. Realise who speaks for god, they have been wrong so many times. god controls the tides, god controls day and night etc. why should you still believe in them? try and put 2 and 2 together.

no i dont have very good evidence but in my opinion i dont think every thing in life needs a good reason. regardless if heaven/god has good evidence of existance it is still a GOOD thing whether you want to admit it or not. For example even if catholics can't prove gods existance who the hell cares, if everyone followed god our world would be a much better place. I'm only 15 years old so no i dont really know whats been proven or not but i truely believe that not everything in life needs and answer or a reason if theres nothing wrong with that peticular thing.

    God does not exist.

So he made the Earth in the beginning, but what has he done recently?

Actually Shredder u r talking about wrong pp. If ppl said that they are following god , it doesn't mean that they really are. Now , please study the golden age of Islam and u will know if the world was a better place or not.It was one of the best eras in the history if it wasn't the best.
    http://harunyahya.tv/detail.php?l=4&pid=1930&sid=0&playerMode=Player1

U don't even believe in him. How can u know what is he doing now. For ppl like u , he makes the universe suitable place for us to live until the judgement day.
For me , he is answering the prayers , helping faith ppl ............and things u can't know until u believe in him.
