In this guide, I will be teaching you how to succescfully boogie board. I have been boogie boarding for a number of years now, and I can tell you once you get going with it, it can be an easy, fun yet very healthy activity.

    *---What is boogie boarding?
    *--How to boogie board

    What is boogie boarding?

Boogie boarding is a very fun water sport. It is done mainly in oceans with a Boogie Board of some type. The point of boogie boarding is to catch the waves, so the wave(s) successfully take you into shore, giving you a good ride.

Boogie boarding is also a good alternate to surfing. I remember when I started surfing 4 years ago. I bought a $400 board, and went out to the beach. I tried for 3 hours to get up on the waves... Nothing worked. I even got lessons, came back again.. Yet still I couldn't do it. So then one day I decided to try boogie boarding. Not only was it funner / easier then surfing, it was a lot cheaper. My board cost only about $20.00 and that's all I needed. I caught on to it very quickly, and up to this day, I love Boogie Boarding!

    How to boogie board

Unfortuneately I cannot supply you guys with pictures, therefore I will try to explain it in words. It is not very complex, so It should not be hard.

Like i said above, the point of boogie boarding is to catch the waves, and be brought in with them. So obviously we are going to need to get in front of the wave and be brought in. So first of all, take your board and go out into the ocean, try to jump over the in coming waves, just anything to get past them. Keep going until you are just past where the waves crash in. ( crash in - meaning where they brake, and become white water )

Then when you are past them, wait until you see a good wave, that is big, and not near any other waves. then get on your board ( if you are not already ) and kick your feet rapidly along with paddling with your hands. When you see the wave just behind you, give about 5 hard kicks, then you should be on the wave. The wave'll take you all the way into the beach. :)

Now sometimes you do not catch the wave. If this happens, don't feel down, just try again. Although boogie boarding is easier then surfing, your not going to get good at it immediately. It can take up to an hour, to get used to it. But I assure you if you stick with it for a couple of hours, you'll have it in no time.

Some things to watch out for

First of all here is a list of things you will need to boogie board:
Boogie Board ( can be bought from any sport store )
    Wetsuit ( Optional )
Leash ( goes on the end of the boogie board and attaches to your hand -optional- )
Flippers ( used on your feet to be able to catch the waves easier -optional - )

Also when you are in the water watch out for these things:
    Jagged rocks
    Jellyfish
Sharks ( or any sea creatures )
Dumping waves ( waves that go directly down, you want to avoid these, because they can hurt your neck / back )
    Other surfers / boogie boarders
And be sure to boogie board within your beach's supervised area.

I hope my guide helped you with the basic concepts of boogie boarding, and I also hope you enjoy boogie boarding! Good luck with it, and remember do not give up. Stick with it, and you'll be having a blast in no time.

Does it matter about the size of the wave? The only time we have great waves is during winter storms lol! >_<

Well you do not want a light ( insanely light long board ) try to get a medium sized, light but not too light board. If its too light it will snap.

I have another tip for you to add in.If there are any umm large (to put it nicely) people around boogie boarding near you move away.Being stuck underneath your boogie board with 15 stone of flab on tom of you whilst your under a wave is scary to say the least, and i speak from experience!

Try not to lean so far forward. It tends to happend if you push yourself to far up the board

Correct bad moose, also if the wave is a breaker, meaning it crashes in at once, all of it. there's a good chance you'll land on your face. So avoid those waves :p

    Nice guide 10/10
But I could never do a boogie board. It is soooo hard for me. So instead I used a skim board. And guess what. It works the same as a boogie board.
