[DENIED] Fighting back against scammers

Let's look at this scenario:

Person purchases skilling from Bravos with Paypal
Bravos completes skilling
Person charges Bravos back
Bravos lose money

How could we prevent this issue? How could we (service providers) fight against the issue of these thieves?

My suggestion: Give the service providers the ability to: Tell the users before they pay that if they chargeback, service provider (like Bravos) has the ability to get their 07 account banned. I believe if you inform the customer that their thievery will not be tolerated, that they will: Not order and cause you a loss, or they will order and not take their money back.

Do you guys think this is fair? Why or why not?

 

Dont accept paypal is the easy solution , no need to change sythe rules because you take paypal.

Everything we do here is against jagex rules so the person you get banned can easily get your accounts banned too so it is an endless war.

No support. Both parties just lose out, anyways. As @Josik1 said, just don't accept chargeback-able payment options.

 

This is the easy way to go, however you will end losing a bunch of customers because their only payment option is Paypal.

I was like you @Bravos, I didn't take paypal at all because I had that fear too, but I've learned that if you give a good service and the customer is happy with you, he wont chargeback you.

Just risk it mate, if 1 of 10 put a dispute on you, you're still 9 services above.

PD: You can always ask for ID with a note, or something that makes them feel compromised with you.

 

Yeah, don't accept PayPal.

@Spizz Bravos should not have to just risk it as he is trying to make a living of it, if he does a service for someone he should be paid for it regardless.

I hate hearing this Bravos you are one of the nicest guys I've met on here and you don't deserve it.

I don't support the fact if someone does chargeback you can ban his account, but there should be something else in place.

You're against scammers getting free service? Or do you support it? Not only you, but by allowing people to order services with Paypal then dispute it, it kind of is like supporting it in my opinion

Two wrongs doesn't make a right. I don't support scammers at all, its just that its not always so clear cut who's in the wrong and mistakes do happen/get pardoned etc. Its extra complication, and there are better solutions.

 

I support the whole Fact there should be something else in place, Getting someone's Account banned is not right. But this is a good idea Bravos.

Indeed it would make some situations complicated, but in my opinion one who scams another should not walk away scot free, most of the people who chargeback are serial evaders etc. i'm not talking about situations where there is an error in the training or something, I'm talking about when: Someone orders, something from a provider. Provider gets it done. Customer charges back.

But how would disputes arise? It should be clear cut, no? If a scammer scams, the service provider could take some action back against them, by attempting to get their account banned. It is indeed a lose lose situation, but I think that it would help make less chargebacks/disputes occur.

 

We can't approve these kinds of vindictive measures even if they are against proven scammers. If you are going to choose to accept paypal, you have to accept the risk that people will likely charge you back at some point.

One option is to require ID verification for your paypal buyers, that is generally seen as a deterrent to chargebacking
