[Denied] Suggestion: Allow Scammers to be Doxed

Are you confused or something? what even are you on about I'm agreeing with letting doxing.

 

It was hard trying to decipher what you meant with your initial post, so yes I was confused.

i'd say it would greatly significantly reduce scamming, would still like to see it so people have an understanding that scamming is 100% not tolerated here. although not ethical again

 

People can change, if you dox and have their life ruined / messed up beyond repair (bridges burned), I doubt that's going to give them any remorse into what they've done and they would likely continue it relentlessly. If however they are given an ultimatum "pay back what you scammed or have your family / university / workplace contacted and your career ruined" may be a different story, some shame online is nothing compared to your career being jeopardised.

It would not reduce it, they would just use fake info or whatnot to stop them being found. Or worse have someone else's info out there so someone else is targeted.

 

Where does "sufficient proof" lie at?

 

Once again, my suggestion is to only make the dox's publicly available, not to take any actions against them.

Your second point is implying scammers are undoxable, which is not true. Is a scammer going to use fake info on a verified PayPal and commit identity theft? Are they going to remember to use a VPN every time they're online to cover their tracks? Are they going to make sure their skype names/email addresses/IP's aren't in any public databases? I don't think so.

It's a judgement call that would be at the discretion of mods/admins.

That's a very thin line. There can never be a 100% guaranteed it's that certain person. Which is really risky because you're talking about potentially ruining someone.

 

Making it publicly available is the same as taking action, if you won't some nutter will who comes across it. You cannot leave it down to chance that someone may or not do something stupid. It's completely irresponsible and as an adult one should know better.

And yes everyone makes mistakes, but not all the time.

It seems crazy that someone would suggest this honestly , Lets not think about the consequence of doxing a scammer for a second and think what will happen to Sythe as a community if this gets approved.

This will hurt Sythe more than the "justice" you will get from doxing a scammer. Easy example , someone new joins the community and goes to the RAS section only to find out a bunch of people posting Pics/addreses/phone numbers of other people , needless to say as a newcomer I will instantly close this page to never come back , maybe I am too soft but so are a lot of people.

I think when someone joins a black market community to sell anything they want clear rules and to feel protected under this rules. Sythe has a lot of them such as not selling stolen goods , no doxing , no black hat activities , etc.


My final point : You are asking this because two people got impostor scammed with your name , the scammer indeed is a thief but the victim also plays an important role when he decides to trade without reading stickies / following the safety guidelines to a successful trade. Unfortunately both people that got scammed with your name didnt bother to request a PM.

Impostors scams are 100% avoidable by requesting a proper PM.

If you want to dox someone do it on your facebook/go to HF or give the dox to the victim of the scammer , no need to have this on a comunnity that is doing fine.

Having users doxes posted on the forum would be damaging to the sites image, the community is split on whether it’s appropriate so I’d assume outsiders/newcomers would feel the same. There’s no need for a sythe post to be made with someone’s dox if they’ve scammed you, contact them on a personal platform let them know this isn’t going to end with you being out of pocket. To the best of my knowledge this would be fine banned users aren’t protected by sythe rules, public dox posts don’t really benefit anyone? This would essentially eliminate the DNT rank to so that’s another thing to consider. Nobody’s going to want to comeback after scamming and having their dox publicly posted.

 

If you're not going to be making threats then what's the post of doxing and posting the dox in the public, are you an idiot? Gathering information on someone isn't illegal. Gather information on them and contact them directly. It'll scare them shitless and they'll pay you back, and you don't have to break any rules or laws anywhere, unless you stalk them or some shit. Don't be an idiot.

 

The exact opposite has been approved/is currently under review [APPROVED/REVIEW] Rule Reform

 

It isn't against the rules currently to doxx a nonsythe or a banned member as they aren't a member of the community now, so this suggestion is already partially accepted, but doing it to someone before they are banned is unacceptable imo

 

If you had read my thread instead of posting your uneducated responses you'd know the purpose is to shame them. Posting someones public info on a forum for tens of thousands of people to see is much more dehumanizing than one person reaching out and extorting them for cash.
