Pretty big news, a user on here actually received 11b back today (they were hacked through bank pin).

Pretty dumb to abuse JMod powers since they obviously have logs for this kind of thing, swiping 45b + others was bound to catch up to him eventually. Wonder if he'll ever be prosecuted for it.

 

They could honestly go about it so much better, all you need is a couple friends that play the game and just feed them inside information every now again like zulrah teles, zammy spears and other crazy merchs.

 

Yeah in the post they say they are taking legal action. Imagine this being on your record lol.

Exactly. However, they have mentioned in the past, with updates like this they closely look at the movement of these items.

 

I think its strange that JaGeX would refund certain players hacked by a jagex employee. But wont refund the people who lost boss drops during the recent roll back after the max cash stack bug. Interesting

Much more than £50k. Unless he gets prosecuted he can probably find work as a freelancer or whatever, idk what his role was but coding is a dynamic job.

 

Could be alot more than £50k. This probably wasn't the only time hes done it. It could have been years, and if it was then it could be 10x that easily.

 

If he was unbanning accounts then selling their wealth, no player would have found out. This could have been happening for months on end.

 

So true, but that would likely be easier for Jagex to trace back to him.

If he looks at account records, then anonymously hacks it and is paid via btc for the gold, then there is no trace back to him.

 

I'm sure there are dozens of smarter, less detectable ways of abusing mod powers. He just took the greedy/fast option :/

 

This is really good news. He was always a scummy person and I'm glad Jagex was finally able to obtain evidence.

Also, good on them for taking this head on and being upfront with the community.

 

That's a very different scenario.. if you read the news post, they stated they were making an exception this time because it was due to the malicious actions of a member of staff. The rollback was caused by an unintentional bug and only affected ~30 mins of progress. Compared to 100's of bil lost due to a corrupt member of staff.
