How to: GSpot (Check Drivers for Media)

Have you ever downloaded a film or a song and you either couldn't see a picture or couldn't hear any sound? This is likely down to not having the correct codecs installed.

    What is a codec?
    Taken from www.about.com

    How to resolve?
There is a good program freely available on the internet called GSpot. This scans the file and determines what drivers it needs and if you have them or not.
    Download Link: [download]http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=3025&s=6[/download]

This is how it will look once ran
    [IMG]

Where it says path, in the top left. Click the ... to locate the file you need to check. Open it.

G spot will tell you if you do or don't have the audio/video codecs.

If you don't have the required codec, first download and install this codec pack:
    [download]http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=4206&s=67[/download]

Chances are that will work, if not simply Google the required codec and download it.

Good guide, well written as per normal. Does it work with the majority of Operating systems?

Nice guide. This is a common problem. You should add the definition of codec though.
