This is for australian release only... Well as compaies start releasing their information about price plans and so on i just thought i would post a little something here... For anyone considering purchasing your iphone on optus or vodafone just be aware that basically anywhere outside major cities their so called "3G Network" is actually not compatable with the iphone. As well as this i laughed at how optus is now also offering free wifi, now i don't know about you guys but i haven't seen a single optus public wifi anywhere... On the other hand Telstra, while we may hate them, is offering the iphone for 270$ upfront on a 30$ plan or free i believe on the 79$ Cap plan. This includes free wifi at all telstra hotspots, which is basically every maccas, starbucks, shopping centre and such in australia. Also for those of you who haven't actually watched the keynote presentation on the iphone really should watch it...
http://www.optusiphone.com.au/getdoc/fe459345-d9c4-437d-a665-f36ec10c7cb8/pre-paid-pricing.aspx pretty expensive, and no telstra wont have it that cheap.
It may be cheap, but if you want too get the full functionality out of the phone then i honestly can't see how having such severely limited wifi AND 3g capabilities anyone would choose it on another company... 3 is the only other company in aus with a fully compatible 3g network and from the looks of it they may not be getting it....
