Overrated Animes

Ill start us off,

My Hero Academia is doooodoooo

 

the first season only, was overrated. ever since after the sports festival it has been great.


overrated: re:zero and angel beats

i liked and enjoyed re:zero but it really wasnt that amazing like ppl were saying. the ending was actually a joke. angel beats was just awful and i hate when lil 12 yr old girls say how amazing it is.

yes i agree. i enjoyed it but it really wasnt insane or anything. Silent Voices was a better movie imo

Just bc they were your first animes dont mean they were the og's

 

LMFAO just because they are the most known doesn't mean they are the OG. And thats only because they are in english. Goto japan an ask this question none will say naruto is an OG jeez

 

Overrated by personal opinion, or are we trying to talk legitimate characteristics of animes that make anime categorized as well-made in most/all aspects? Or perhaps characteristics that draw in a large fan base because they are enjoyable to watch for most, even if they have a lot of recycled story line/s with some changes here and there? (Like MHA perhaps.) I personally very much so enjoy this anime, but I have been told it is very similar to other animes such as HxH which I have not actually seen myself. This also may be a reason why I enjoy MHA so much, because I haven't seen HxH so it's all new to me and thus very enjoyable.

When you're a new anime user, as long as you like it, would it be considered overrated in your world (even if it is) if there is nothing to which you can compare it? So are we now only expecting avid anime-watchers to know the difference between overrated and well-made?

And why's it even matter if it's overrated? Just curious. If people enjoy themselves, I don't think it can be overrated to them. And your anime watching only effects you, so I'm not sure thinking an anime is overrated matters. If others don't want to enjoy the animes you think (or know based on whatever anime-building baseline you think is valid) are actually good, then so be it.

"Which animes are overrated?" is very open-ended to only opinion with not much room for actual discussion (as seen above), which means this thread is sort of pointless unless you steer from only opinion.

I would just like a basis of which direction OP is trying to take this question before I post anything else.

personal opinion really. its like music in the sense that everyone has different opinion and taste and you cant say *enter genre here* is better than another genre. I think for people to start saying a certain anime is overrated, it has to have traction within the community. Then again there is pretty clear consensuses for certain anime that are just blatantly obvious. One example would be Erased. If you watch yt videos and read reviews, you would know that its hard to find a solid negative review on it. It was just that great of an anime and literally everyone and their dog love it.

Ive seen both HxH and MHA and havent once been reminded of HxH while watching it. Many anime are the same at the core but the characters are often times the biggest difference. There is no one like Gon or Killua in MHA. At the end of the day calling an anime overrated is the same concept as a review. You are just explaining what you think and trying to steer people into the same beliefs as you.
