[APPROVED/REVIEW] More Fun-ranks Suggestion

I think fun ranks are awesome when I see people have them. I know that's what makes them cool. Being so exclusive. But I think more should be added and more people should be able to obtain them.
But how and in what ways to obtain them is something I'm not sure on currently. But me @Pageth were talking and think more fun ranks/ways to obtain them more frequently would be cool and positive.

Thoughts? If you disagree, explain why. I love all viewpoints and would love to hear from all who would like to comment/speak on this

 

pretty sure u can win them during x-mas and halloween events although they didnt offer one last x-mas

im down for more funranks as it seems that only staff or frends of staff get them

 

im assuming the competition fun rank for SOTM is one of the two? whats the other one from?

 

I think this could be nice, although I don't see them being of any true value, like I see the legendary funrank and say they have done something for the website, or a mod may have an astranged one they those chose for 1 reason or another like gen's asian man one. Sure they are truly "fun"ranks, but I don't really see much in them, maybe just me. I like miniranks as you get them from cdt events and prizeboxes which are already implemented. I can't really think of a way to implement new funranks fairly too, shoot me with anything you have thought of, I had talked to blasses before about the minirank rework that had been wanting to happen, but I believe that went no where in general so who knows.

I support this suggestion, but could you / the community add-on to what you would like to see?

Give examples / pictures of fun ranks on what you would like to see, and maybe even a proper system created to award users with those fun ranks.

Just some ideas off the top of my head (Obviously I don't want to flood the website with fun-ranks so that there's no meaning or an exclusiveness sort of feel to them), so finding the right balance could prove tricky.

Perhaps when people reach a certain post-count, have a certain number of liked posts, been a member of Sythe for 'X' years. Sort of like trophy points (which are currently just a number) but a fun-rank instead that shows this person has 5k posts or has had 1k comments liked or has been a member of Sythe for 'X' years. That's just one example.

Others could include, like the 'Monster' and 'Zombie' fun-rank, where you win it in a raffle & it's forever yours & no one else has them. I think the CDT team could maybe, 4 times a year (quarterly) create a fun-rank competition, similar to the holiday events they do for mini-ranks but where people design fun-ranks instead. And the winner of that fun-rank competition gets his + maybe the top 5 people get it also. It could be more than 4 times a year, that was just a random number thrown out there.

I will continue to think of ways to make fun-ranks a more common thing because I know people love them, myself included and people would love to have there own.

Me no likey, postcount is too easily farmable these days by using autobumpers and if we limit to to like "If you post 1k times to a lets say general discussion etc you get this minirank." Would only make it that post quality on those forums would decrease. Likes for funranks would get abused really easily by a group of people because they can like every post of their friends and return the favor. But yeah, we need to change the trophy point system because it kinda sucks.

Umm.. I just like the fact that they are rare and only handful of people got them.

 

Definitely support if it can come through in innovative ways and not given solely based on stature.

 

well if CDT brought back weekly events, instead of the competition winner funrank the prize could be one you can customize. so thats 1 winner and per year, and that person would have to stay in the community and participate an entire year. I dont know CDT's plans though or why we didnt have weeklys this year.

Or for big CDT events like the pool tourney, which happen once a year (60+ entered), the winner could get a fun rank.

i think it should remain extremely rare. like 2-3 awarded a year seems reasonable and i mean ones that may be customized, not the standard comp. winner one.

 

These ranks are typically rewarded for helping the site. At one point new ranks were made and given out to those who found bugs or security issues the site had. As of now, the only way to obtain them is by becoming staff or winning them in end of the year CDT events. I’m fine with introducing more ways to obtain these ranks, but not to making it easier.

I don't support more funranks being given out, but I do however think funrank events should be more organized/planned out. As of currently, they seem to be randomized depending on how CDT feels.

Example:

• CDT makes an announcement telling the community there will be 2 funranks given out that year - Perhaps the community can vote on which events that year should reward the funranks? i.e Halloween, Christmas, Summer, Valentines etc.
• This allows users to bid on sponsor spots ahead of time as participation numbers for these events will absolutely shatter non-funrank prize events.
• Use the forum/discord to hype these events up months ahead of time.

TLDR: No support on more funranks being added -> Support a more organized and planned out way of giving them out. Perhaps even new events outside of the usual few? That's for CDT/community to decide.
