Bring SOTW back

Self explanatory, I joined around right when this ended.

 

Not many people were entering, and I won the last 3 that were up with my horrible work. It just had to go. Maybe in the future if more people get into it, but looking at it now, I don't think it needs to be back.

 

Well, I can't think of many people who would enter, and the same people would win it week after week.

 

Working in the graphics area, and moderating it myself, as a professional artist, this is my perspective.

In the initial weeks of SOTW, and on other sites, we find that there are many members, of various skill levels who wish to join the SOTW. Week 2-x, the decline of the SOTW continues. As of the final week I find myself looking at low-intermediate to brand-new-to-photoshop style signatures spanning 4 submissions. I rejuvenated the SOTW weeks later for another try at it, seeing as the SOTW had boosted in requests. The same result - three or four submissions, and they all were low-inter to brand-new in skill level. It was decided then that, in my opinion, if Phil (Then 'Boomheadshot') and TDD did not lead a few (3-5 users) into some skill, the SOTW could not thrive and continue. I saw no progress toward this, so I stopped the SOTW all together. TDD tried to continue the idea, as I predicted, but no one wanted to accept his teachings, so the graphcs forum died shortly after.

I have seen a short revival in the area, but I will have to see it pan out before I can continue to see the forum have it's SOTW. Sorry.

 

I would suggest SOTM(month)

This would receive many more submissions, and users could take more time on it. It seems to work on other forums, although..SOTM might just kill the idea, and die. but..worth a try?

I agree with Vision Ex...

SOTW fails after a few weeks due to inactivity. I don't see it coming back any time soon unless Sythe has a random burst of talent and enthusiasm for graphics.

 

Most of the entree's for SOTW's are usually ripped work.

So most people would cheat just to have the glory for a week.

 

Nooo Way.. everyone with real skills either never comes on the site, or doesn't give a fuck about the gfx section cus of all the fail .

 

It was far too boring. Signatures are a type of graphic that died long ago.

 

Which is why I never just make tags, I resize my lp's
