A better understanding...

Helo acctrader here I need a better understanding when downloaded a file, for example i just downloaded some ones auto wood cutter, now can i get a pass stolen just by me downloading this or do i have to use it to get the spyware or trojan ect.. ?
Also why dont people just use scar i mean its not that hard to do i know how people lazy are. I feel the same way but i got fed up and tired with it so i make my own bots and I use scar so i do not have to waste my time and other people's time as well. and you should use srl if any one reading this post knows what im talking about. thanks acctrader.

Im not exactly sure but I think it varies on what type of program it it.

Some viruses execute in the background without your knowing, another requires you to execute it yourself before harm is done to your computer.

But like I said, i'm not completely sure. Try the tech forum or somewhere in that region.

 

You can't get a virus just by download the file, you must execute it.
BUT there are some file types (.ace) that when you extract them they can have an autorun feature which will automatically open a file and infect your computer.

You can also get virus's just by visiting sites, they can download files AND execute them without you knowing (although pretty much any antivirus software today prevents this).

if you're using scar, just search the scipt .. (ctrl+f) for an @ symbol.
if it includes their email its a dead give-away for me - unless it checks out with the other srl admins/mods

the ones who put in their email but use it for actual help for bugs etc put [at] not the @ symbol .
