I understand how some of you arent so fond of the reasons or even the idea taht we are at war. I still stand to argue that even though we may bve in it now for the wrong reasons ( i may be wrong though, who knows lol) i think that we are still doing a good thing all in all. I dotn think we are doing it just to be killing people and telling people what to do lol


I think that one day they will thank us i hope but i may be wrong, But to those of you who dont supprt it think about this. lets say you were over there with no freedom and no liberties and that if you did sometyhing your ruler didnt like you would be killed.. Dont you think you would be more than HAPPY to have someone come and rescue you and overthrow the dictator who tells you how to live your life. Sure the USA isnt perfect but at leats we can sleep free evry night, that is unless were in jail or something lol....



SO think about that when you tell we soldiers were watsing our time doing nothing good at all. YOU could be the one we were saving

Yes, of course, I do, my cousin is in the army, so I strongly support the troops over in Iraq.

 

That's just it , They are none of those things. I lived over there for a short time before the war started it is nothing like you are making it out to be. The only people who would be murdered are people who deliberately spoke unwell to Saddam as in rebelled against him on TV etc. it isn't like if you say something to a friend and someone overhears you , that you would be shot. this isn't medieval times. and I wouldn't want people coming into my country killing friends and family just to catch some dictator and kill him, think of it this way, would you want someone to come to America and kill people in the way to find bush and kill him? no you wouldn't although he is clearly making a cluster fuck of bad decisions. So don't just go off assuming what people want and whats best for people, let them decide and when 80% of Iraq rebelled against you that should have been a good enough and noticeable thing to know they didn't want nor need your help.

China people can't have more than 1 kid per household, if they have more 1 gets put up for adoption. Now tell me, How many children can we have per household? As many as we like.

China doesn't have freedom of speech, the government tells them what they can print in the news and what they can't. We have the right to print anything we like, even if its fake.

Now tell me do we have a ounce of freedom compared to china? I think so.

I respect your decision to not support it, but you act as if theyre so much better than us Americans... Even still we went to get him and overthrow his dictatorship so that WE can sleep at night without worrying, or at leats worrying less. I dont want anyone who even mentions they might have nuclear weapons and not too fond of the USA around at ALL. We dont go around shooting the hell out of civilians. We kill the insurgeants not the kids not the women, not the innocent.

And if i were over there and Saddam was ruling my life and making my life living hell, then yeah I would want someone to come and clean up his act. if the people I knew were stupid enough to support him then its their own fault they would be killed. I would rejoice knowing he was dead.

That is culture and religion common to most middle east countries there, it has absolutely nothing to do with Saddam.

The war was not in the best interests of the Iraqi people or based on humanitarianism (this is clear if you look at the death tolls). The prime reason for the war was to maintain access to oil and dominance of the region. There is nothing noble about that.

The Iraqi nuclear weapons programme ended in 1991. Iraq never had nuclear capabilities.

Deaths directly attributable to soldiers shooting civilians will be fairly small, though bombings will have killed a considerable number. The real death toll lies somewhere around 1 million as a result of the invasion, though not all of these deaths are due to violence. A ruined healthcare system and infrastructure have increased deathrates.

I would be pissed off some of my family were killed and my country invaded. I would be pissed off that my country was insecure and that the streets weren't safe anymore. I wouldn't be able appreciate my newly granted freedom.

In many parts of Iraqi the majority of people believe they were better off under Saddam.

You soldiers overthrew the Iraqi regime so that US dominance of the region, and access to middle east oil, could be sustained. While that will make some oil companies sleep better in their beds, war was not in the best interests of Iraqis nor was it in any way the humanitarian thing to do.

I am trying to think of what to say now. You make some good points, but the was wasnt started because of "oil" thats a stigma people are putting on this. Either way, you have Americans who are putting their lives on the line EVERY day for you while you sit at home and watch the news. THEY are there. with every passing moment, they sit dusting off their vests and praying for their families back home so they can see the, once more.


We, as soldiers, dont choose whether or not we go to Iraq. We do it, and not for glory, not for honor, we do it because we are Soldiers. We live to protect the liberties of the United States from foreign And Domestic Affairs.


I am not asking you to support the war. Im asking that you think and pray (or w/e) for the Soldiers! US, the ones who wake up and wonder if we will see the next one.

Hell yea I support Army Guys.. If one of you is ever around my house you got a place to stay and food to eat. I may not necessarily agree with the whole Iraq thing, but soldiers can't control where/why they are fighting I guess.

I'm not going to lie to you, I haven't been in active combat I'll admit to that from the get-go. That being said, I've been heavily involved in military, and had significant conversations with those who have been in active combat. Without going into too much detail I'll explain it in laments terms... It fucks you up. Seriously, don't try to act like you understand, I don't fully understand it, although I do my best to try. You have people WILLING to go through hell to protect your freedom, and they take orders that your ELECTED government imposes.

I'm dead serious... it changes you in a way, and trying to get back into society is hard as shit.

The troops actually had no choice as to whether or not they would be deployed in Iraq, but they went anyway because they made a commitment that they were willing to uphold.

However, the actual troops have nothing to do with America's foreign policy, they just...have to do what they are told.

Some on the people on this thread are extremely ignorant, it makes me sick. I did sort of chuckle to myself when I thought of this though. About half the people who disagree with the war (about half of US is republican, or was), elected George W. Bush to not one, but two terms in office as President. And then they complain that he is leading our country poorly. I just think that it is ironic. Just like [offtopic] half the people who complain about gas prices drive hummers or SUVs [/offtopic]. And yet these same people wonder why the rest of the world hates our country.

 

I support you guys 110%. I have a friend who's leavin in a month or two and I haven't passed up a chance to tell him that I support his decision. It takes balls to do that, no doubt about it. I don't agree with the "war" (congressional order) in general, but not supporting the troops is something different entirely. I'm really proud of you guys and hope to see you home sometime in the near future.
