depends on the mood im in, but most often i choose rap

I like both.. But rap more.. Some rock is pretty good like Disturbed and Bullet For Valentine.

I don't like listening to death metal, but as a genre it is MUCH more complex and musically and lyrically brilliant than rap. Actually, if you had read what I said, I said that I DON'T like death metal, and isn't pretty sad that I don't like it yet i can defend it a hell of a lot better than what you're doing with rap? And I didn't say it was lyrically brilliant, I said it was MUCH MORE lyrically brilliant than rap. The only things you can say to me is metal sucks dick or that my life is worthless? You're not even defending your genre anymore, just making up shit to tell me. I don't think rap is bad, I just think it's not nearly as good as most other genres. If you wanna argue, then fuck, make an actual argument don't tell me that my life sucks which has nothing to fuckin do with it...

Agreed. Rang3pure, learn to put up an argument. Your shit makes no sense and Metal is understandable, rap isn't. In rap they speak way too quickly and even if you can listen to what they're saying it's all about drugs and being cool because rappers think they're bad asses for doing drugs and disobeying the law, they're bad asses now.

Even though i think rap sounds sweet, it isnt the only thing that makes it good.. most rappers have come from being poor.. e.g. "we used to put water in our cereal" to becoming millionare's through telling their story in rhyme.. if u bother to actually listen to the songs (dude below kingnick, not many rappers talk fast btw), some of them are just about money, cars, clothes and chicks (u probably assume all rap songs are like this) but many also have meaning behind them and make sense. They tell of their upbringing, experiences that have changed their life like someone they know dieing etc. and most of it is really interesting, so when they put the rhymes and beats together it is sick.. rappers upbringing's seem to be far more graphic and moving when they talk about it, being from the 'ghetto' and everything.

and for that, i find it so much better than metal and death metal.

personally i like rock 50x more than rap.
But, listen to alot of rapcore bands (rage against the machine, slipknot, etc.)
My rock to rap ratio is still 95:5

but i dont hate rap, only some artists.

Rock is more complex, both in lyrics and beat, than any of the rap Ive ever heard.

The only time and can stand rap is when I'm drunk at a party.

 

I voted for rock because I listen to that most of the time, but I do listen to some rap sometimes.

 

Since both genres are very large now, I'd have to say that I like and dislike elements of both. I really enjoy well-done instruments and rhythms, where I can tell that it took a lot of consideration and shaping to develop the texture of the sound. I also like lyrics that are catchy and have a meaningful purpose.

That being said, I lean more toward Rock than Rap, but dislike the popular stuff for both genres. Rapping about shoes is about as (un)enjoyable to me as whiny Rock.
