Euro 2008.

Yeah, I doubt many people here are huge followers of soccer in general, but yeah. Well, Euro 2008 has been underway for three days now. I was curious as to see who you think are the front runners for winning it.

I was going with Italy, but getting smashed on by Holland.
France... looks terrible.
Greece is over rated in my mind. If anyone can put a goal in on them they can't come back.

I guess Germany could be the front runners now in my opinion though.

I'll try to keep these standings as current as possible.

Edit: I forgot to mention that all the games are viewable on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes (I think that goes for all of the US).

It's been them and Spain lately that have been expected to do great things that haven't done much.

I think Holland (Netherlands) might actually pull off winning the "group of death."

 

I'm not a fan of Soccer but I though Euro was already over?

Anyway Holland absolutely battered Italy.
Fancy italy and Romania to go through...france are FUCKED.

 

I'm not even a fan of hockey. I just remember watching a soccer game with somebody in a blue outfit and they lost and I thought that was the last game played in Euro.

 

That was Chelsea vs Man. U. That's on the club level.

lol i skip school every day in the afternoons to watch the games. i say germany is gunna win. in both the euro and the world cup i always want germany to win =D anyway that game yesterday was EMBARASSING for italy. like holy shit who woulda thought theyd lose that bad. and also who saw the groin-kick today in the sweeden - greece game. lmao that cracked me up.

 

England didn't qualify which sucks.. it's football btw.

Yeah. England has the "premier" club football teams, but they fail to qualify for Euro where there are some pretty bad teams.

 

England are extremely overrated, they are a decent side nonetheless. Definately not top 10 material.

I believe Italy or Germany will still win it. The heavy loss against Holland wasn't justified, as were Portugals 2 wins by 2 goals. Holland and Spain are being classed as favourites but it's always the same, they burn out.

Germany and Italy are always prestigous in competitions, their history shows they handle the occasions well.

If it can work out this way this is what I think the last 4 will be, Italy, Germany, Portugal and maybe an outsider like Croatia.

It's still early, first games are often like this, don't be suprised to see France give a good go at the Group Of Death.

 

I don't think that Italy will finish #1 in the group, but they should advance. France looks too young in parts as well as too old is some parts. They're really hurting with absence of Henry and Zidane.

On another note: The Swiss have been eliminated today. I doubt Austria will fare well tomorrow either. It's a bit sad to see the host countries struggle.

 

Yeah Portugal looks pretty promising; probably Germany will be up there too. I was going for Italy, but that game... ugh. They should get their act together though probably. I'm not sure how far they will go with it though.

Well if your into your football (soccer) then you would be. It's the second biggest football competition IMO. The World Cup being first, then Euro, then Copa America then African Nations.
