They're both alright.
But I prefer rock.

 

Rap has more meaning to the song then any other kind of genre.

Noone listens to the lyrics at all and they quickly assume the songs about drugs/sex/money, etc.

Some of it is, because most rap stars come from poor familys living on the streets.

 

*Hem*, Some of us quite like the "brutality" of it all, you see. Death Metal isn't made to be completely understood lyrically, otherwise there would be clean vocals, and that would defeat the purpose of Death Metal.

Death Metal is better than rap in my opinion because the patterns of the genre are a much more welcoming sound to my ear. I honestly can not stand rap, it's honestly not music if I may say so. I'm sure I could create a simple beat in Fruityloops and make a rhyme to go with it.

I'm also sure not so many people could create extremely famous guitar riffs, bass lines and drum solos. Death was the foundation of Death Metal, and the rise of Morbid Angel ensured the genre to be legendary - and mark my words, I've tried to play their riffs and failed. They ARE legendary.

If, by Death Metal, you are either confused between other genres, or have based an opinion on bands such as Cannibal Corpse, then I'm sure I can forgive you for that bashful statement, however I do and always will like Death Metal over Rap, and that's no reason to be bashful about anything. So what? You listen to simplistic computer-generated noises and what I consider somewhat boring rhymes by artists such as .50cent, and I listen to brutal riffs and harsh vocals. Such is what I like, and if you've got a problem with the fact that everyone has an opinion, kindly go out and spend some time in society.

Purearcha7, I'm sure you're correct in saying it can have more meaning than a lot of songs, though I doubt it would have more meaning than any other genre. Rap sounds really quite dull to me though. A monotonous voice is the last thing I want to listen to in music, and I am indeed passionate about my music collection.

Well, i'm much more interested in Rap. But when it comes to it, I like a lot of Rock music, Like Metallica, Etc.

I used to like rap, but about 3 years ago I started listening to Metal and it was just so much better in my opinion. Rap gets old after a while and I switched to Metal because all my friends listened to Metal and I heard it every day and so much that it just ended up being better. To me liking the music you like is what you hear most of the time, and rap is what people here most of the time so they go with that. But Metal is awesome mmkay?
