I just started playing again this week. I drove up to an area where a few pokestops had active lures and I saw a decent amount of people there.

 

It was a hype game tbh. But i still see people in my city walking around stuck to their phones playing. Kids and adults lol.

 

Yeah there will always be people playing it, but the numbers have dropped drastically since the release hype. Personally, I got bored a few weeks after release; seeing the same pokemon over and over. Not sure if they’ve made any variety changes or not since then; but can’t see myself playing again.

 

I just picked it up again - quit within about two weeks from when it started. With all of the improvements they have made to the game it's kind of fun to play again.

I still think the eggs are a pain in the ass, but when they're half-off (they were over the past week with multiple free incubator slots) it's fantastic. I almost can't keep up with acquiring eggs before they run out but it makes the game 10x more fun to me and gets me out and moving.

The active event days/raids are pretty solid as well - and the new quests and what not give you some sort of goal to achieve.

Very active. The game is currently generating about $2million a day. The game has improved a lot in the past 2 years.

It's currently #1 top grossing in Android store.

The game is no joke in terms of activity and revenue. People who say it's dead are kidding themselves.

Also curious about testing a power-leveling scheme. Apparently with the gifting only one person needs to send gifts to increase friend level with a max of 20 gifts being receivable a day (over 100 can be sent out though).

You can apparently use ultra/best friends to power level (I believe it's 160K experience per gift) your way to 40 in about 3 months of just sending gifts out.

 

Hey there. You said "160k per gift". It's 160k xp *per friend* that you hit best friends with (90 days of opening gifts with a friend). So less than 2k xp per friend a day. If you're sending 20 and receiving 20 a day, you can level up with 40 friends a day, for about 70k xp a day. Not bad, but nothing amazing either.

The best way to power level in the game is to use a lucky egg and spin never before spun pokestops. New stops give 250xp; lucky egg 500xp. I believe someone hit lvl 40 in 3 days using this method.

 

I have a friend who plays pretty actively, he doesn't meet as many people as when it was hot but he still sees some people at gyms.
