Thinking of getting a dog

I really want a doberman, anyone have one?
Any advice?
It'll be my first dog, (I had a dog for a few days but my family gave it away because he was already so big (6 Months)) and I was busy during the school year.

I suggest you get one from a certified breeder. Don't buy a doberman that has had it's ears cropped + a docked tail, you don't want to support that type of crap. You'll have to take it to puppy school too (if you buy it @ 2 months old). As for food, you don't want to buy some supermarket brand as they're filled with fillers and crap your dog doesn't need. I'm not sure where you live but in Australia here my dog eats Grain-Free Ivory Coat, it's a very high quality and expensive dry dog food.

You're better off buying it from a certified breeder. There could be some on Facebook marketplace, idk. The breeders i know don't use that to sell their puppies.

 

You should definitely contact a respectful certified breeder. When I was getting my dog I made a lot of research, visited many owners and breeders, found out the pros and cons, everything. Also, I don't recommend visiting huge exhibitions with your dog, because... Well, humanity is greedy and envious. Good dogs get poisoned by owners of other dogs just because of that.

 

A large deciding factor you must consider is that this dog will cost you $20-$30k ++ throughout its lifespan. I did some light research as i'm interested in owning a dog myself, so my numbers are just off the internet - not past experience.

yea like @Laurie definitely rescue/adopt if you can. Bring happiness back to an unfortunate canine and he'll spend the rest of his life showing you his gratitude.

Adopting is your best bet, I don't believe in breeding when there's millions of dogs without homes that would make great company.

Doberman are HUGE MAN, I had a german shepard. Regardless what anybody says they are not a horrible dog. I miss the cuddles he gave and how gentle he was with everyone!
