    Working Out Correctly

the picture of my arm is from december, wagwannadon obviously knows nothing about working out. you dont lift weights to lose weight, you do it to gain muscle. if your getting more nutrition your obviously going to have an advantage on some scronny guy who gets 1200 calories a day. eating healthy isnt the way to gain muscle quickly, its the way to waste money get weak and lose overall body mass, and not always in good ways.

overall my opinion on eating healthy- not worth it, id rather excercise and burn off what i eat then eat leaves and drink skim milk. stuff that im eating whatever i want with no limitations, and its not hard at all to use the energy.

im so tank, lighter weights with more reps builds more endurance, heavy weights with low reps builds fast muscle. idealy you want to lift weights which you can rep more than 3 times, but less than 15

Hey, I attend the gym around 5 days a week and will jog on the weekends. I train different muscle groups daily, yet I still have stretch marks on my shoulders.. Why? I don't use protein shakes.

Im so tank, reps in the 8-12 range are ideal for what you're looking for, you should be able to them, but it will be slighly difficult, if you can do it easily then increase the weight.

Owain, it doesn't matter if you burn it off, you're eating empty calories, that have no nutritional value and you're eating stuff that is BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH, and when did I say weight training is for loosing fat? It does help it though.

Owain obviously knows nothing about working out.

Occured, protein shakes don't give you stretch marks, you have grown and your skin couldn't keep up therefore it stretched. Vitamin E helps the skin, as well as have other functions. It's also genetics.

Look around for vitamin E supplements or buy some stretch mark cream which you can rub on the area, that's all you can do.

It could just be your skin and the mass of the weights you lift. If you want to lose the marks, theres cream and such, but I would suggest to decrease the maximum weight in which you are lifting.

If only you knew how to work our correctly...

There's no point in working out if you're going to eat unhealthy food / empty calories, you may as well not even train...if you want to start seeing serious gains, then eat right and train right.

I'm not trying to be rude, but if you guys have separate opinions on the correct format to workout in, then please create a guide on your optimum workouts. This guide is the most efficient way to gain mass/get cut in my eyes.

which is exactly what you shouldn't do... less weight more reps gets you stronger leaner muscles, and its better for your joints/ligaments/tendons.

its ok to max every once and a while but don't do it every day.

i bench 4/5ths my weight (180x0.8) in 3 sets of 15 every other day.

Btw Brandeis what hs do u play football for?? i played (graduate in 2 weeks) for Independence HS in Charlotte NC in 2 Weeks. 4-AA state champs 7 years in a row 109 straight wins

It's a proven fact that if you want to gain more mass you should lift less repetitions with more weight, so you don't know what your speaking of.
You definitely don't play for Independence, they are number 6 in the nation...if so whats your name and number.

here are some questions ive got
    what are empty calories?
you talk about this stuff yet you know nothing?
where do you get your information some yoga session?
professional body builders get 12000 calories a day so are they wrong and your right?
    wheres your guide?
    wheres your muscles?
    whats your body mass index?
why do you know so little about nutrition?

    did you know's

i have a years supply of n.o. xplode sitting in my room
i have a fairly large room, so i have bench press and everything else set up in it
a donut has more nutrition than a salad
I have facts behind what I know, you do not

on another note lifting low rep high weight is better for gaining mass for various weird reasons which i dont fully understand, somehow aerobics come into play and the calories burned vs muscle torn

high rep is good for building lean muscle, thats why the country kids own townies at shotput, they do more manual labour.

liquidforce, if you have joint problems, just take a join support product, there are many out there.

Empty calories are calories/food that have no nutritional value, such as a coke can which is just sugar.

What don't I know? You think nuts are protein and you get your protein from liquids, lol.

Where do I know this? I've worked out for a long time and I know more than you, seeing as how you don't even know what complete proteins are.

Pro bodybuilders get that much calories, but is it from french fries and cheeserburgers? No, and when did I say too much calories was bad? As long as it's not empty calories and as long as you can burn it off, then you're ok.

Why do I need to write a guide, to prove to people I know stuff?

Muscle? I'm sorry I didn't know you had to have 50" Biceps to prove you know how to work out.

Body Mass Index? If you were clever you should know that hardly means anything.

I don't know anything about nutrition? You thought nuts are high quality protein, and you get your protein from milk, LOL.

chad case #42 i play saftey. and u still didnt say where u play(ed)??

i would have had a full ride to clemson but i had a snow skiing accident where i compressed 2 vertebre(t11, t12). i was told to walk on as a freshman and that i would have a full ride as a soph+

and i was just saying getting "mass" isnt the healthiest of best thing for your body, not that low reps and high weight was not the way to get mass

i completely agree. it is the process of getting the muscle that can be harmful ie low reps/high weight. im just saying there is a better way to get the muscle.

it is commonly known that high reps/lower weight leads to STRONGER muscles than the low reps/high weight method of working out.

Really heavy weights for 1-6 reps = strength.

Heavy weights for 7-13 reps = size + some strength.

Low weights for 15 reps or more = endurance.
